I ordered via UberEats. I was visiting LA and had never heard/gone to La Cocina de Karla in person. I’m Honduran, originally from Tegucigalpa, so I’m extremely critical of Honduran food but also so optimistic & excited because it’s not common/accessible outside of certain pockets, with a concentrated/significant Honduran population, around the country. I ordered the tacos & pupusas with a bottled banana soda. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS. I was so impressed & satisfied. The seasoning and plating/appearance was exactly like you get in Honduras. I truly felt like I was having lunch at my aunts house for a moment. The amount of food you get for the money is amazing. Completely authentic & the service was expeditious. Every time I go to New Orleans for work I order from this restaurant. Highly recommend. Enjoy eating in Honduras w/out having to buy the plane ticket.
Read moreGreat neighborhood - family style place. They have a hot bar to see the food and you can order plates and other specialties they prepare in the kitchen. Food is Central American style. Had the Honduran tacos - similar to a chicken flauta - crispy fried roll up tacos. Also they have great empanadas - like a fried beef meat pie. Both are accompanied with a great salad that has pickled onions and fresh slice jalapenos with some wonderful dressing. Also shared a grilled shrimp plate with great refried black beans, rice, pickled slaw, salad, and deveined wonderful shrimp and homemade style tortillas. Very authentic and has an almost...
Read moreIf you want good Central American food, this is a great spot to stop. It is super convenient if you are near the Louis Armstrong Airport. I recently stopped here after picking someone up from the airport and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of baleadas. Baleadas are a traditional Honduran breakfast food, they are made with freshly prepared flour tortillas folded over with beans, cream, and cheese. The "baleada con todo" also included scrambled egg, beef, and avocado. What millennial could turn down that breakfast? My only complaint is that prices are not listed on the menu. That seems like...
