I been coming to this particular restaurant for the last year or so and I am a truly advocate of supporting small business and in spreading the word out on delicious restaurants around the city . And I hope they are paying attention on not only cooking food right but also respecting customers especially when there is a concern. I bought two combination fried rice and other dishes which we ate last night but had a entire untouched combination rice which I thought it would be great for lunch the next day. When I was serving it to my kids it was spoiled with a sticky and a funky spell.I took it back to the restaurant and was trying to be as quiet as possible since there was people there eating I was treated in the most disgusting manner especially coming from Asian personal which to my understanding are so polite and Efficient with there jobs. I was addressed by the cashier lady which is so ordinarily improper and she is not there to listen to the problem and addressed properly she literally is there to fight you off and tell you that your food is good and you should eat it the same day and not the next day because she don’t know what you did to it . I completely understand her point but is “ call take out” you decide when you eat your meal and take out shouldn’t be or get spoiled the next day.I have never had food from a restaurant go bad the next day if it’s store in the refrigerator. I don’t agree with people yelling to customers specially if we are paying and creating your business better! Be mindful about sitting and ordering from this place if something is not in order or done right you will not get a good feed back from them! I told them is not the money on my end or the food cost on their end is the SERVICE you all are executing!! Is a little town slowly one customer at a time will be out...
Read moreSorry I have to do this. This used to be my favorite little spot Little Chinatown I love coming to this please very much i have been coming here for at least six years ago with me and my fiancé but as of recently, the service has gotten worse I went there today and order my usual well, which I thought! Which is a bowl of egg drop soup, one order of crab Rangoon’s, and from the lunch special shrimp, fried rice with honey, chicken plus shrimp, fried rice, shrimp, and broccoli! Today the food was horrible. I could not believe the service. The person who was our waiter, which was a guy! I asked him what want wrong? He told me it’s because I asked for extra greens, but I didn’t. I asked him for extra green onion on my Shrimp fried rice but instead ,I got some thing that I did not ask for the rice itself was very salty and didn’t even have the shrimp that I requested one of my dishes. I sent it back because it was completely horrible. The other one I ate without telling him they forgot to put the shrimp. I told him at the end, and he told me. That’s a Chef said that they cannot prove if I had shrimp or not so I still had to pay an additional fee even though I was not given what I ask, for I even asked to speak with a manager told me that the owner or a manager was not on duty and to call back tomorrow. I usually don’t write reviews, but this was horrible for me and my family I traveled all the way from Slidell to have Lunch and it was a complete waste of gas money and time Little China town please...
Read moreThis place is a gateway drug... Yeah, you heard me.
Let me 'splain.
Ya see. Most people who like Chinese food don't really like Chinese food... They like some Americanized Mall food court version of Chinese food... And most likely don't know the difference.
And when they try "authentic" Chinese food, they are confused and distraught, and sometime downright angry that it's not the Panda Express they are used to. (Quick disclaimer, I actually enjoy Panda Express, mostly... It has its place).
So, back to little Chinatown... This place straddles a razors edge between those two worlds. The menu is familiar, mostly. The entrees are easily identifiable, all the Chinese hits are there...
But, the depth of flavor profile is different. They are sneaking in the rich, pungent, spicy, bold flavors of authentic dishes.
The menu cleverly sneaks a szechuan crispy chicken in between a General Tso's and a Sesame. The hot and sour soup has a deep sour to the back end of it... the potsticker sauce uses dark Chinese vinegar... the beef chow fun has a hearty braised egg noodle backbone.
The familiar meets the authentic here...
Heck, they're even brave enough to suggest a intestine in XO sauce on their specials board.
Good on you Lil Chinatown. Good on you. You train our American palettes to enjoy your richness... no express flavors needed... Take your time. You...
