Las Carnitas 2 — Restaurant in Kenner

8/7/20 REPLY TO OWNER: At no point did you come to our table to know what kind of service the waitress was providing. She was rude and got our orders wrong twice. You can defend your staff but you can’t speak on facts when you weren’t there. You only came at the end when we presented our coupon. Take my advice as a business owner “ITS BETTER TO LOSE A DOLLAR THAN A CUSTOMER”. You only comped my plate because the beef strips were blacked burned.

My beef strips were blacked burned to a beef jerky consistency... how could the kitchen send such a plate out? This was our first time eating at this restaurant and it will certainly be the last. The only reason we went was because we had a coupon from the “2020 Save Around Coupon Book” which they would not honored. The coupon was for buy one entree and get one free. The owner came to the table very upset and being rude to say that he doesn’t know why his restaurant is in that book because he never signed up. I am a business owner myself, and if I was presented with such an issue, I would give my guests some sort of discount and make some phone calls to find out how my business ended up in that book. Probably the best place I’ve found to eat in Kenner. There is definitely a bit of a language barrier. But, I spoke to the waitress in English and she spoke to me in Spanish, and it all worked out in the end. First of all- if you order the tamales, and you’re used to Mexican tamales, this is a whole different level of tamale. The appetizer comes with 2, and you could make a meal out of that. These are huge tamales stuffed with potatoes, carrot, peas, chicken and olives. Very tasty. I also had the pollo guisado (stewed chicken) which was also delicious. Back on March 29, 2022 I randomly stopped at the quaint Las Carnitas 2 Peruvian Restaurant in Kenner, Louisiana before catching my flight back to Chicago. Oh my ... the food was delicious! I totally enjoyed their flavorful Tacos Mexicanos and Tamal de Pollo. With the tacos you get to choose beef, chicken, fish or a combination of the three options on corn or flour tortillas. For my dish I chose the 3 beef tacos on corn tortillas. The Tamal de Pollo was different than any tamale I've ever had. It was hearty and could have been a meal all by itself.
