This locally owned established has been around for a long time, and is quite an unusual combination of atmosphere and service. The building is nice, interior well remodeled, and has the ambiance of fine dining in both appearance and pricing. Then there's a do-it-yourself salad bar as if you were at Sizzler. I ordered the daily special, halibut and chips - the fish tasted good, nice and tender, coated in an oil soaked breading. Fries were nothing special, typical fast food style. My wife ordered a ribeye, remarking that is was thinner than you'd usually get when ordering the same cut elsewhere (but overall cooked well and tasted acceptable). Service was ok, not lacking but not spectacular. A bit worrysome moment was after they ran my credit card - when returning it to our table the server asked me to check if it was actually my card because they had given it to another table by mistake. It's not my first visit here and expect it likely won't be the last, but it just doesn't feel like a well justified value for the cost.

We had a 93rd birthday party with 18 of the guests. The restaurant is perfectly situated on the Columbia river bank with gorgeous views of the river from large windows or outdoor patio dining. The entry leads to the reception counter where the host or hostess will quickly seat you in a beautifully appointed post and beam cedar rough sawn architecture and comfortable dining appointments. The noise level was perfect for conversation. The service was exceptional and beyond the extra mile. I had seared ahi grilled perfectly with sesame and peppercorn crust, garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. Others had steaks and salad bar. Everyone said, their food was amazing. The price is worth the value for quality and view with the location. We will be back for sure. I did show the menu at the time I visited but as always this could change. Bon appetit

The food was… OK. Prime rib was tender, but very bland. Garlic mashed potatoes tasted great, but were cold. Mozzarella sticks had a phenomenal taste, but again, they were cold. Clam chowder was good. Salmon with Dungeness crab tasted great, but the menu said “generous portion of crab”. It was more like a sample size. I’m probably being rather critical, but the quality of food does not live up to the price in my opinion. You do have to make a reservation for the dining lounge. The place wasn’t even half full and service was pretty slow. I understand places are understaffed, so I’m not knocking this place, but do expect to wait a little longer than what you’re probably used to. Great views though and our waiter was extremely nice 👍🏼

Worst Experience ever! Stay Away! Not worth the time or money. Skip to bottom for bullet points.

I Called a Week in Advance for wife's 50th BDay and left message asking for reservations. Owner called me back 2 hours later. I said 5 adults, no kids. No special accommodations or allergies. Owner said ok thanks! My wife, mother in-law and I were meeting 2 other people there at 6pm. We walk in and he says no there seems to be an issue we do not have anyone under that name. I stated that I had called last week and owner asked if it was him I talked to and I said yes. I got "well just because we talked doesn't mean we confirmed!" I was in panic mode and got confused and said I got a text confirmation and the owner said like he had won something "we don't even do that". As well as a lady started in about how they don't do that. The owner and lady kept raising voices and so I ushered wife and mom out of restaurant. I was stunned. I was nice, polite and never raised my voice. It was then that I realized that the confirmation text was from melting pot in Bellevue the night before which was her actual bday. So outside I dialed the number that had returned my call when placing the reservations and the owner ( guy I just dealt with) answered. I walked in and waited till he wasn't busy and said I understand you can't help us but I just wanted you to see that you in fact called me back.So I Dont know what happened. The owner said " just because I called you back doesn't mean we confirmed anything."He then asked how many and I said 5. He simply stated " I can't fit you in" so I left. Now it is 620pm. The other 2 we were meeting for dinner called us on our way home and said they were sitting at our table inside cedars waiting for us. They arrived a few minutes before us. The waitress had sat down at our table removed her mask and asked where the rest of the party was after they told us they couldn't help? Once again My wife, my mother in law and my self walk in to the lobby. As soon as the owner saw us he threw up his arms and yelled "What do you want? I told you we couldn't help you! " I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone!!! Then same lady that was yelling earlier came over and told owner" Don't worry about it I got it handled" " this was our mistake". The owner was so mad and red. The waitress said " when the other two in their party showed up, we seated them and crossed the name off".. She ushered us away and he didn't say a thing. On the way to table she said" that's the owner that's how he gets when he is stressed." I said He was so rude! She said "I know, desert is on me". He seriously upset my wife and my mother in law. Wife's baked potato was still cold. First waitress ignored us so another waitress went and told our server. By now we all were just done. I tried to plan a fancy dinner for the wife and found out this place had a salad bar instead of them bringing you a salad with your dinner. (Me and mother were only ones with masks at salad bar- no one else in my group got salad bar) there was an empty bottle of sanitizer sitting by salad bar but again it was empty. There was very limited selection of food. Everyone said the food that was cooked properly was ok. My seafood fettuccine was good. I couldn't bring my self to accept a free desert after watching the owner walk through establishment and when he looked up and saw me he turned around. I still tipped 20% because I just didn't want to deal with it. Not once did anyone get an apology, let alone make sure the food we ordered was cooked properly. This place is not worth the money, I happily spent double the night before for just the wife and I.

THE OWNER WAS VERBALLY ABUSIVE! Waitresses would only respond to those in their section. Baked potato was cold? Seriously with limited selection it should be easy. Waitress sat down, removed her mask and started talking? Who are you? In a time of Covid. Who has a salad bar. In a time of Covid what establishment doesn't have adequate hand sanitizer. 7.He wasn't mature enough to apologize or...

First I have to say, as promised, that after I warned them that I had read reviews saying their garlic mashed potatoes are often cold, they exceeded expectations in that regard and our food was delivered piping hot. We appreciated that. However, this poor little place is really trying to be a classy dining destination but is not achieving that. Really unfortunate, considering its beautiful location. The atmosphere is lethargic. We only saw one other party there at 7:30pm with a free live music event drawing a crowd just down the street. The patio seating was absolutely devoid of any effort. No flowers or plants anywhere, and the glass wall around it is filthy. There were no tablecloths. They offered to wipe the debris from our table but never got around to it so we brushed it off ourselves, the best we could. The salad bar was okay, and a nice activity to fill the time while awaiting entrees. The lettuce was fresh and uniformly cut, and the dressing was good. They could use more toppings. The halibut was over-cooked and the lemon caper butter bland and in need of salt. The coconut prawns looked like they came from a bag of frozen but my husband liked them okay. The restaurant was out of their signature dessert - mud pie - which was what we went there for in the first place. They reported that their freezer broke and all the pie melted. The under-dressed staff presented as casual in both attire and demeanor, with no uniform but inconsistent faded black T-shirts and black pants, and addressing us as ”you guys.” One interrupted our conversation to share her personal preferences about levels of heat regarding pepperoncini after noticing one on my plate. She also neglected to bring the bread until after we had already finished soup and salad. Hopefully some training will happen to improve staff presentation and professionalism. We had high hopes for this place because of the location on the river, but we should have trusted the previous reviews. For now, I’d say skip it. I’d love to see improved reviews when we return next month because it is convenient to our...

We planned an intimate "promise" dinner. We didn't realize the full service Dining room was reservation only, we usually sit in the bar area, and don't mind the waiting for a table scenario as we like the time to sit and chat.

Going out to eat is an event for us. We chose a table in the bar area, were immediately approached by a waitstaff, our drinks were ordered and delivered. But then we decided to move from a table in the bar area to a quieter end of the bar. Unintentionally relocating the owner from his spot.

What happened as an accident ended up taking our special night to even more fabulous night.

The owner, his manager, his wait staff, chef, and everyone between down to the pairing recommendations all deserve 10 stars for helping our night be special.

Although we ended up with the recommended tenderloin steaks, we were able to sample the most amazing pork chop, had a fabulous appetizer; the crab artichoke dip was piping hot, the exactly right portion not to fill us up, but gave our taste buds the perfect teaser for the next course. The salad bar was clean and fresh, not a thing out of place, nothing was low, and the greens were so crisp....

And since we both had a hard time deciding what to order, especially after being able to sample the most amazing pork chop - a huge 14 ounce pork chop, that melted in your mouth was perfect. Our host recommended the tenderloin steaks which were absolute steak bliss. You know you have a great prepared steak if you don't ask for the A-1 Sauce. :)

Hats off to the new owners, new management and all the staff, between the best view in town, the new management path and creativity of the chef, the ingredient knowledge, including local wines, Cedars at Pier One is the place to go... This is truly a 5 star restaurant.... Tri-Cities step up and show...
