I was really looking forward to checking out Masonâs after moving to the area. It was one of the local spots Iâd been excited to try. My cousin and I stopped in around 8 p.m. and grabbed seats at the bar.
Right away, the bartender wearing a Scottie Pippen jersey asked what we wanted to drink before we even had a chance to look over the beer list. It felt rushed, so we just quickly ordered beers and were handed menus. Within minutes, she asked if we were ready to order food. Again, it felt like we were being pushed to decide before we had a chance to settle in.
When the food came out, it was brought by a second bartender wearing a Bulls-themed baseball shirt, and she was way more welcoming. She asked my cousin if he didnât want the soup or salad with his meal, which we didnât even know was included because the first bartender never mentioned it. Thankfully, she offered to bring it out, and we appreciated that.
Unfortunately, the first bartender never checked on us again after we ordered. She spent the rest of the time chatting and laughing with a guy at the end of the bar. He was awkwardly bobbing his head like music was playing, even though there wasnât any, just the usual background noise from TVs and people talking. It made the whole interaction feel even more disconnected. She didnât look our way at all, and after putting away a few glasses, she grabbed her stuff and left.
If her shift was ending, thatâs totally fine, but it felt like she wasnât interested in helping us from the start. Since this was my first visit to Masonâs, it left a disappointing impression. The second bartender definitely helped turn things around a bit, and Iâm glad she stepped in, but the rushed and inattentive service earlier in the night made the experience fall short.
I hope this feedback is helpful. The second bartender made a good impression, and I might give Masonâs another shot, but this visit just...
Read moreHad the worse experience ever. The servers were extremely rude and talked to us like we were guest at this establishment. When we originally came in the place was dirty due to the the high volume of graduations that day. We came in at 10:50pm and wondered were they close due to the staff hiding when we came in. We could clearly see that they were at the bar and pretending like we werenât there. The host that night took the initiative to seat us and was very nice. Soon as the waitress from her section seen us getting seated (3 guest) getting seated she vocally shouted very loud and aggressively that âim not serving them the kitchen is closedâ. After the first incident I preceded to ask another waitress what time do they close. Im a server at Longhorn Steakhouse and understand how everything works, but a hr and 10 before closing wasnât called for those chaotic acts. the server told us she doesnât know what time they closed and that they close when the last person is seated. I thought that seem suspicious too. The 3rd server that came by walked right up to us after we were sat for 5 seconds exact and said âthe kitchen is closing if you want to order food you need to order RIGHT NOWâ she told us thatâs what she was told yet i didnât see her talk to anyone besides the servers that were mad about us being there. I understand how the serving world goes. there was no greeting, drink order, or kind words said to us. I will never eat as this restaurant again. It was very disturbing to have all of these experiences in one night. Iâm truly disgusted with kenosha and the poor service. I doesnât matter what time of the day it is you are suppose yo address every guest with respect. The couldâve been adults and handled the situation differently than that. from open to Close there shouldnât be a difference on how you treat a table. Weâve order from masons several times but this will...
Read moreIrish pub atmosphere, great for quick bites and burgers. I was at Mason's about a year ago to meet someone over a quick lunch and didn't have time to fully appreciate what they had to offer. I wrote the above quick review based on my limited observation. Yesterday, I was there for dinner and experienced their full hospitality. To start, their service is wonderful and it's not because you get a one off great server. It is the attitude of accommodating the customer that all their people seemed to have, above and beyond normal expectations. Yesterday, a trainee was shadowing the server and beyond simply observing, he took the initiative to make service at our table special by connecting with us through conversation and offering to do whatever might be needed. Food: Not particularly exceptional but consistently good comfort food with some wonderful options. For example, you don't have to settle for the basic French fries with the burgers, you have a choice to pick from about eight different sides. Great sandwiches, burgers and other comfort food. Very good options for non carnivores, as well. Drinks: Although we didn't elect to have alcohol because we had young children with us, the selection is vast, befitting a proper Irish pub, a great number available on draft. New and seasonal entries are regularly introduced. Another note: I appreciated their sensitivity for other patrons when they seated us (with two young children) in a manner to cause least amount of kiddie disturbance to others and yet provide us excellent service without consigning us to a remote corner. BTW, if you have kids, ask for a video tablet. It will keep them occupied and busy until food arrives. It appeared to be a popular item. Summary: Go there for the service but end up enjoying the entire experience. Going back there a year later, I raised my rating from four...
