After living many years in the Kent area (and missing it dearly) I finally got to try this newer brewpub I had heard a lot of great things about- and I was not disappointed. My wife and I took a mini vacation to the Northeast Ohio area, and stopped by on our way to Avon for a Saturday lunch.
The interior of this converted old church is beautiful, looking quite modern and clean without losing the original aesthetics. The service was friendly and helpful throughout, and you definitely get the community vibe that you long for in a long time successful area restaurant.
I tried a small flight of beer and my wife enjoyed a limited time shandy, and all of the options were very well made and varied in style. I will now long for the Chai Schwarzbier once autumn hits, since it tasted like fall in a glass and was my favorite of the samples I had.
We tried a fresh pretzel with beer cheese to start and it was quite tasty, with the softer and puffier iteration being especially enjoyable. My wife ordered the Veggie Wrap, which she really liked and I thought was extremely flavorful when I tried a bite. Out of a feeling of potential FOMO because it's so unique, I tried the Strawberry Goat Grilled Cheese, which was a real unique star. The goat cheese fondue was rich and creamy, the thick bacon added great savory and salty notes, while the fig and fresh strawberries provided counter sweetness that allowed the sandwich to hit basically every craving center.
My only complaint is that I no longer live in Kent, since I am certain I would be a regular at this establishment, and it's definitely a must stop when in the area. Just another gem in what is my...
Read moreHoly amazing. We were lucky enough to happen upon this brewery during their special Harry Potter weekend event. The bummer: because of the event the kitchen closed at 3pm... which was atypical for Saturdays. That being said, we got into the restaurant at 1:45 and were able to get some delicious food, including some of their fun specials, before they closed for the ticketed event. The place was beautiful to begin with, but decorated with "floating" candles strung across the ceiling for Hogwarts effect! It was absolutely magical!
We tried the Butterbeer, Hot Pepper Cream Ale, American IPA... everything was amazing, and the Butterbeer was a boozy dessert, almost! The Hot Pepper Cream Ale was spicier than I imagined it could be, and every bit delicious in a flight glass portion.
Foods: Witches Brew Beef Stew: 5/5. Cuban Sandwich: a MUST HAVE if you come here Burger: super yummy, as were the fries! Steak flatbread (both kids ordered this): soggy, but very tender and tasty. Probably a 4/5. It has some amazing flavors! We also had the shareable pretzel, which was very tasty. The cheese dip was super yum,and I was surprised by how tasty the kombucha dip was!
We wanted to get some desserts that sounded incredible, but it was 3:08 and the kitchen closed, despite tons of people still being served. That was a bummer.
Pricey, but worth it. These 4 meals, plus app, plus beef stew, plus 2 butter beers, 2 IPA glasses, and a flight glass of hot pepper cream ale came to $159. Worth every penny for the...
Read moreI've been to Bell Tower probably 10 times since it opened. Parking is easy, although you might have to walk a bit. The inside of the building is gorgeous. They have a vast drink menu. That is 5/5 easily. Parking is easy. Service is always excellent. I've seen some good music.
I don't drink a ton; I'm more interested in good food, although I always get a drink here. I'm a vegetarian who is closer to eating fully plant based so dairy is generally off the table. The very first time I ate here with my partner, it was an amazing experience because so much was new. I got this salad with quinoa with amazing tofu and a spectacular dressing; cauliflower bites; tempura onion ring type things; and pretzels. Over time, I tried the burger, salads, a vegetable wrap, and sides of veggies. My quip is that things don't change much food wise, particularly for vegetarians. The meat eaters seem to get specials every now and then. For those who are vegetarian and avoiding dairy, it limits it even more. I'm bored by the menu. I don't like the veggie burger or the vegetable wrap composition, so it's cauliflower bites and pretzels and roasted vegetable sides nearly every time.
Great place for drinks, community, and music, but if you are a vegetarian foodie that likes variety on repeat trips, that is where this...
