Everything about the restaurant is very well managed, but behind the scenes are a bit out of the ordinary. I applied for a server job there, had my interview where i disclosed my disability, POTs (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) (and is protected by the ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act) was hired, and worked my first shift. During my shift 9-3, I told the managers about how i needed a bit of a second to sit. if you don't know, POTs can cause you to become lightheaded and pass out, personally i have a mild case. which i disclosed. and i sat down for a total of 5 minutes during my entire shift. By the end of my shift, after not taking my required 30 min break (for food, water etc) i was sat down by two of the managers on schedule and they told me they did their own research and told me i was unable to continue my job with them, because they saw that the symptoms of severe cases can have "weakness, lightheadedness, and confusion" they then sat there and mansplained my own diagnosis. which was un-true. i have never passed out due to my POTs or for any other reason. i can handle my own. i know my body, but they sat there and told me what they thought they knew about me. which they did not have the right to do, i kept up with my duties, i did my job with excellence, and i was excited to continue my job there with them. they took away that opportunity by assuming. they clearly had not observed any of this behavior because no incidents were brought up. besides my five minute break to sit down. which was approved by the manager at the time. they told me the hustle and bustle of the work place would not work for me. when i kept up. all day. i give them 1 star across the board, because no matter how great it’s run, how good the food is… there is no way to make up for the way they tried to tell me i was unfit and unable because of assumptions. they didn’t care for what i had to say at that point. so i left respectfully. kept my mouth shut. but maybe someone out there will care the way they did not. food is mid. drinks great. no...
Read moreI am writing to share my concerns about a disappointing experience during my recent visit to your restaurant.
After reviewing my credit card charge, I noticed that a 20% tip had been added without my knowledge or consent. When I called the restaurant to speak with a manager, I was met with rudeness and unprofessionalism. This restaurant uses Toast as their POS system which allows them to refund a card remotely. Despite this, the manager insisted that the only way to get a refund was to come back to the restaurant. Hoping to resolve the issue, I visited the restaurant in person. While I was given a partial refund (and the incorrect receipt), I did not receive an apology for the unauthorized charge. Additionally, during my visit, I overheard two servers speaking poorly about me, which was both upsetting and unprofessional.
While I appreciate the partial refund, this experience has left me feeling disrespected and disappointed. Transparency in billing and respectful customer service are critical, and I hope measures will be taken to address these issues with your staff. My personal experience as a server has taught me that mistakes happen, but a server adding a 20 percent charge is a deliberate action.
Thank you for taking the time to review my concerns. I look forward to hearing from an owner regarding how this matter will...
Read moreToday, an employee and one of the owners treated me disrespectfully at the Wild Goats Cafe. I'm a senior Marketing major at Kent State, and I called in regards to working with them on a social media ad for one of my classes. I asked to speak to Charlie, one of the owners, about potentially working together, and the woman rudely said, "Not interested" and immediately hung up on me.
I drove there hoping to talk with Charlie in person, who was not even willing to talk to me in a professional manner about what I was proposing. He blew me off and didn't give me the time of day to explain myself.
Not only have I been a regular customer at the cafe, my mom also worked there for 12 years. If they are willing to blow me off with that much ease and rudeness, I can only imagine how they treat people they don't personally know. While it's ok to not want to partner with me for a class project, they could use a lesson in PR and stop acting like they're too good to help the huge population of students that essentially keep them in business. As a student and regular customer, I expected better treatment but was let down. I advise students to not waste their time trying to help them because they're not interested in...
