I’d have to say that in 2024, the best NE Ohio day-trip would be to Kent for breakfast, lunch, dinner or all of them. A long, exhaustive window-shopping or real shopping trip downtown. Then, campus tours (self-guided) museums, and the day must include a few hours at Franklin Park. I’ve added different pictures than others because there’s unbelievable history here too.

Riveredge Park is located in downtown Kent. Easy access from the bridge. Beautiful scenic trails alongside the Cuyahoga River. Water fountains were working. But the overall place wasn’t super clean. Seems it neglected by either city administration or locals. People need to own it and stop throwing trash in the fountain area.

Truly a hidden gem in downtown Kent. Just a few steps past the bridge and you are immersed in surreal get away from the hustle and bustle. Listen to the rushing water, appreciate the warm historic architecture, take a walk along the river.

Looks great after the remodel. There's lots of places for dogs to smell and a nice hard path that won't get muddy. Great for biking, walking, taking dogs, walking with kids. There are benches to sit and enjoy the sunshine or read or people watch it whatever. If you go far enough, you get to Kramer's field. There's a water fountain there with a bowl for dogs to drink out of. Kramer's field has a playground for kids. Keep going and you'll get to Fred Fuller and there's lots of playgrounds there! If you go the other way, it takes toward downtown Kent,...

Pretty views. Nice, mostly shady place to walk. Parts are wheelchair accessible, but most of the path is not. People need to stop throwing trash in the area in front of the fountain, though. Or you know, just not throw trash places other than bins.

Update, July 2023: more parts of the path are wheelchair or bike accessible now. Trash situation seems to be better. Still nice views, good place for a walk. A few more benches and a lookout area near Brady's Leap...

I have yet to run the entire path, but it's brand new! This is a great way to view the Cuyahoga River and Route 43 from afar. Kent has come a long way in the past 15 years! More trails and foot paths make it more accessible to the run crowd. There was once a "Club Chameleon" bar near the railroad tracks here, at the trailhead! But like everything else, it's been replaced with...
