First time coming to Maza Grill for dinner with my two other friends. The owner, Ms Tina was there, she greeted us and showed us to our booth. We got our water bottle and she explained their menu, answered our questions about their food, she also recommended some food that turned out really really really good. I also ordered my to go order right away (that is the smart thing to do, it will save your time and their time too!! just order your to go order at the same time as your dine in order!!!)
Yes, it took time for our dine in order to come to our table, because there were 2 large parties there when we were there. But we dont mind it at all, we just talked and used the time to go to the rest room and they gave us the free chips while we were waiting. Then finally we got our food!! We didnt know how long exactly, because we were just enjoying our talks and our chips :)
I ordered blackened chicken steak (it was recommended by Ms Tina) and my friend ordered the Punjabi Tikka Chicken. The portion is huge, it came with some raisin & basmati rice and salad or some veggies. I tried my friend’s chicken kebab, it was huge and yummy. Her chicken was cooked right and very juicy and flavorful. But I love my blackened chicken steak more, I love the sauce that comes with it. Very recommended!!!
My to go order came right after we are done with our food. We didnt finish our food (remember, the portion is huge) so we asked for some to go boxes.
All in all, this is a very nice restaurant with halal steak and grill. The price is very reasonable with that huge portion. Keep in mind, halal hand slaughtered meat are more expensive than other regular meat.
Yes, it took some time before we get our order, but that means that they prepare and cook our order well. They prepare and cook our meat from the raw meat to a perfection. Not some pre-cooked meat and they just heat it up for our order, no, it is NOT like that at all!!! The owner also shared that some of their regular customers usually call ahead their orders, so when they arrive, their food will be ready. I think that is very smart to do, if you really dont like to wait!! But make sure you come on time and commit to the time you told them!!
Last but not least, I would like to highlight the other review that mentioned about the slow service and suggested that they should hire more people. My question to that guy is, where have you been??? Have you been living in a different world or something?? The whole country is understaffed!!! Not only restaurant, other businesses are also understaffed. Please be more understanding, trust me, they are trying their best!! They will hire more people if they are people to be hired. I am just thankful that Maza survived the pandemic. Hundreds of restaurant are closing their business because of the increasing prices on everything. Please support the local restaurants and be more understanding. If you find something that you dont like, talk to them, let them know .. I am sure they are willing to listen to you and fix their problem. If you have time to write a long review with a 1 star, I am sure you have time to tell them your concerns in person and they will be more than happy to fix it.
Anyway, we recommend MAZA grill. Please come and experience this amazing halal cuisine. The only negative thing that I can come up with is, it was a long drive for us to come here. I live in Tacoma and my friends live in Port Orchard, but it...
Read moreWe made reservations by phone, and reached there on time at 6 o' clock. They seem to have hired a new server, whose body language didn't seem like he wanted to work. The owner's wife told us she is sending us complimentary appetizer. Few minutes later, the server rushed to the people who arrived after us and served them our complimentary appetizer. I had to ask the owner's wife for appetizer again, and she was surprised to learn that the one she sent for us didn't make it to our table. She was kind enough to bring it to us herself. The server continued to be out of his element, I had to grab water for our table myself. We waited patiently for our food to arrive, the burger never made it to our table, the steak we got probably wasn't meant for us. We ordered a medium, but what we got was well done and it tasted very different than normal. We had to sent it back. So it does seems like we got someone else's steak, and our steak and burger went to another table. I overheard the server going to another table and announcing "medium" steak and burger, and people on that table, just looked at each other in surprise. One of the older guy at that table finally said I will take it. At this point it was already 7:30, we had been waiting for an hour and 30 minutes for food, so we had to leave and get back home since our zip car time was expiring. I tried talking to the owner before leaving, but it seemed like he was agitated (not sure if it was because of something else or because we sent back the steak) and not particularly interested in hearing me out. He remarked that he already wasted two steaks for our table, and directed the server to bill us just for the burger. I told the server that he never brought the burger to our table, to which he agreed and told us we can just leave. In the end it all might have been the server's fault for taking orders to wrong table, but I feel that the last conversation with the owner should have gone much differently. We have been coming here for over three years, and have a good relationship with the owner and his wife, which makes today's experience feel even worse. From our perspective, the restaurant is about 30 minutes drive from our home. So we ended up spending 2 hours and 30 minutes of time and $50 on zip car to get this...
Read moreAbsolutely TERRIBLE Experience
We had an absolutely awful experience at Maaza Grill in Kent, WA yesterday. I usually don’t write reviews, but this was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had – and I want to save others the frustration.
We went with a large group of 14 people and were upfront with the restaurant. We specifically told them that if they couldn’t accommodate us, we’d happily go elsewhere. Instead, they assured us they could handle it. That was the beginning of the nightmare.
Unacceptable Delays They asked us to order specific “quick” items — just curries and naan — promising everything would be out in 45 minutes. It took 1.5 HOURS to get our first dish. No one came to inform us about the delay; we had to go to the kitchen multiple times to follow up.
When food finally came out, we weren’t given silverware or even serving spoons. We had elders in the group, and this was just beyond inconsiderate.
False Promises & Poor Service • Staff told us 3 naans would be plenty for our group. They brought out 2 small naans after 90 minutes. When we asked for more, they first agreed, then came back to say they couldn’t make any more. • They said every curry came with rice — we only got rice with one of them. • Orders came out incomplete: one entree first, then another after more waiting, then a third (without rice), and they completely forgot the fourth entree until we reminded them.
Total Disorganization Even after all this, the staff had the audacity to ask if they had delivered everything — clearly, they had not. It felt like they were winging it the entire time.
In the end, we paid $250 for missing food and left hungry and angry.
This is not how a restaurant should be run. If they couldn’t handle a group of 14, they should have just been honest with us from the start. Instead, we wasted 2+ hours for a frustrating and...
