We went through drive-through in Frankfort Ky. on Versailes Rd. around 1700hrs. on Oct. 17. My son and I eat at Zaxbys at least once a week. My son gets the bbq boneless chicken and I get the bbq traditional. Yesterday I decided to get the cheese fries. I asked the employee if she liked them and she said yes. I told her that I am very picky about cheese fries and I would hold her responsible if they were not good (obviously I was teasing her). The picture of the fries looked great, it had the melted shredded cheese, grilled chicken, bacon, and ranch drizzled all over it. I was hungry! I ordered mine without the chicken, after I asked if they made them like that. They said it would be fine...so I ordered. When I finally received them, the fries were very greasy, the cheese was not melted, just cold, shredded cheese on the luke warm fries with ranch. There was some bacon but it was not visible at first. The bacon was in a corner by itself, not on the fries. I paid over $8 for them and I deserved better. I went back inside and showed them the fries. They took them from me, handed them back to the cook who threw some cold, shredded cheese on top. The lady handed them back to me and said, "They said they would have to charge you for any other addition.". I replied that it was not the additional stuff, but that the cheese was cold and the fries were lukewarm and there was barely any bacon. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came up to me, I showed him the fries and he said, " That is all we can do." "The chicken is what melts the cheese and you did not get any and we have no way of melting it.". I said, " I suggest you not sell them without the chicken if this is what it is going to look like.". Then I requested a refund, in which he gladly gave me. Then he proceeded to wait over me to see if I were going to take the fries with me. Once I put my receipt and card in my wallet I slid the fries toward him and left. I eat there quite often but I have never met this manager. There is another manager there who would have made sure the fries were made better. For that, Zaxby's gets a 2 star rating for...
Read moreThe food here is usually fine. Tonight the service was terrible. The sign in front of the store says that you get a free kids meal with purchase of an adult meal. I'm a vegetarian and usually don't eat at Zaxbys but I often take my son there for a Zax Snak. Since I could get a kids meal for free I decided to get food for me and both of my kids. I ordered a zensation salad without chicken, a Zax Snak and a kiddie cheese.
When I reached the window, they told me that the free meal was dine in only. I let them know that the sign didn't say that and I had no problem parking the car and coming inside to pay for it. The drive thru worker brought the manager. I had to repeat the story. The manager said she didn't know what her sign said but that was the rule. She gave me a lot of attitude while I was just stating facts. She ended up giving me the kids meal for free. Which was nice. I truly didn't mind coming inside if I had to. But the attitude of everyone was unacceptable.
When the drive thru worker brought me my debit card she didn't even make eye contact. Didn't say thank you. Sorry about that. Have a nice day or anything. They also forgot to give us both of our drinks but I didn't want to get anymore attitude so I didn't drive back through...
Read moreTraveling Yankees encounter above-average franchise fare with a dose of warmth and humor. During a long drive south for a family event our hungry crew chanced on our first Zaxby's. Serving chicken - and only chicken - we entered the still-busy restaurant about 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. Decorated in warm tones of stone-ground mustard walls and chocolate-colored tile, we were greeted by friendly staff who took our order at the counter. Never having had their food before, we spread our selections across the menu: two kids meals, a salad, and wings. Our favorite for both selection and price was the salad. Topped with citrus vinegrette, this nod to Asain fare was tasty and filling. The guest with the wings was less pleased; while enjoying the sauce (Nuclear), he thought the dish had been in the warmer a bit too long. Those of us with the kids meals thought they were just right for our appetites with thick-cut crispy crinkle fries and tasty chicken bits. Zaxby's signature breading and sauces made this a good stop. We got a chuckle out of the humourous, PG-rated signage adorning the walls, too. With another 6 hours to drive before our final destination, we'll be looking for a...
