It is important to note that I am a vegetarian, and have been for 10 years. I do not eat ANY type of meat products( i.e. fish, shrimp, beef, pork, chicken, etc.) I've visited this establishment many times and they are usually pretty good. Not amazing, but pretty good. I took my mother out to eat at Kimono, she loves Japanese. Saw a couple ants, nothing major...ants happen. When we ordered I just ordered hibachi mixed vegetables and white rice..they brought our food out rather quickly, maybe 10 minutes later...and my plate is heaped with chicken, veggies, and rice. Just lots of chicken, mixed in with everything. I politely pointed out that I had wanted no meat or chicken, just the vegetables and rice...she apologized and took the plate back to the kitchen. Not even 2 minutes later, she's bringing my plate back (which made me suspicious that it wasn't completely remade, which would have been appropriate), when she sat my plate down she asked, "You don't like chicken? Everyone like chicken..." I told her, that no, I don't like chicken because I'm a vegetarian. At this point she looks wide eyed and guilty...like a child is when the know they did something wrong but hope you don't notice. I didn't see any obvious pieces of chicken, so I began eating...halfway through I find several small chunks of chicken. I just completely stopped eating, I wasn't going to send it back again (they would have messed with my food)....so I just stopped, paid the bill with no tip, and will never return. Respect my food choices!! I understand mistakes happen the first time, but then to just take it to the kitchen to dig through EVERYTHING (rice and veggies too (it was mixed in)) on my plate to remove chicken pieces, rather than making a new plate of what I ordered. A plate that's not full of cross contamination from meat. So disrespectful...this is something I eat. I decide what I want to put in it. Disrespectful.
Sadly, I did not listen to my own words. After 9 months of staying away, my mother begged me to try it again with her. The same thing happened. I didn't even try to say anything. I just pushed my plate away, watched her eat, paid and left. I also let my mother know that there would be no more "persuading" me to go. Also, a group of employees sat at a table very close to ours, having a pretty loud, profanity laden conversation. I won't pretend that I don't use profanity, but I've always made sure never to do so at work. When I worked in food service, I made sure that customers never heard me or any of my employees using profanity. This place has really gone downhill...
