Monte De Rey — Restaurant in Kernersville

This location is consistently terrible. We have ordered several times, hoping it would get better so we don’t have to drive all the way to Walkertown to order from Monte De Rey but tonight really did it for me. I won’t eat at this location again. First, they completely forgot 2/3 items we ordered tonight? Did not discover this until I drove all the way home. They put our queso in a styrofoam drinking cup which was weird, as well. We have ordered from here before, the nachos were inedible because they were so gross, the ACP is drier than crap. Like I said, we keep giving this place a chance since it is so convenient for us but the Walkertown location is 10/10 every time. The Kernersville staff is apathetic, the food does not taste fresh and tastes like it was made with no effort. The parking lot is the worst parking lot I have ever seen in my life. I can’t understand how they have about 10 parking spots for one restaurant but they did it. I cannot recommend avoiding this location enough, go to the Walkertown location. After watching this location being built I was very excited to have a new restaurant to try. Well my first experience was a to go order and after getting home I realized they left off half of the order. I called back and explained what happened they said they would have the rest of my order ready when I arrived back for my second trip. After getting there they brought the manager up who did not introduce herself, she said my order would be ready soon. She later brought my order and asked me to check it and then she thought they left something off again, I said you are the manager did you not check the order before you brought it out after there was already a problem, I told her the order was correct because I checked it. I later remembered that a couple of people from my office got takeout earlier in the week and there order was wrong. So, if you go here double check your order especially if you get takeout. Side note, the atmosphere there is terrible, it looks like they ran out of money building it and just put a bunch of tables in. I will not go back. I will stick...

I don't know if or when we will come back. If we decide to, it will be long after management has figured out how to manage. The fact that our server couldn't refill or drinks without us asking (we ended up with 1 refill) and the manager came to our table with all of our glasses completely empty, says a lot. For a brand new restaurant, the staff already seemed burned out. Also, I'm not opposed to using the table side computers for efficiency. However, if you are not able to use those and engage with your customers, then it's not worth it in the end. The server is going to lose money on their tips right there, because they are getting ignored. There was no personality to anyone we engaged with, I guess because there was no staff engaging. The host (ess) wasn't even friendly. The unnecessary spacing with the seating puts some seats in odd corners. There are just too many things that need work with this new restaurant.
