I love coming here to meet a gaming group that usually comes here monthly. I do not drink much but the moxed dronks are ok and there us a variery of beer on tap as well as a couple of watoed wing sodas. You can buy some snacks, but they are extremely ok with you bringing on your own food-bjust no beverages for obviouse and very fair reasons.
Both walls are loaded with board games and card games. This is also a piplular olace for various ttrpg groups to meet up. I even first started olaying D&D here before covid hit.
The biggest issue I have is the noise level. I have a lot of trouble hearing and it can get fairly noisy later on when there are more people present. They may want to look into ways to dampen sound some time. That being said, it is still a great place to hang out and vibe and meet new people. Go to an event they host and just have a fun time!
A special shout-out to the staff who are always extremely courteous, friendly, and quirky no matter how busy it gets. Tip them well. They deserve it. 😊
Bonus- if you are into tea, check out the tea shopnnext door. I believe it has the same owners. They have a huge variety of home blended herbal teas. There is one that taste like barbecue water from a smoker. I think its called "pondering". Very smokey. I do not recommend it fir drinking. I think i will use it to marinate a roast in...
Read moreI came in a bit after two and was expecting (from my experience with other board game bars) to not expect much and just see the bar before coming in at a more normal hour.
I was glad to be surprised. Well priced and interesting drinks. 12 dollar 12 ounce mead, 6-8$, 16 oz beer, and cheap enough mixed drinks. I came for the board games but actually got a damn good bar.
I had a shot, 2 meads, a beer, and a mixed drink and was happy with everything I got. I spent a bit over 50$ for all of it but if you take out the mead you can easily have a much cheaper time.
Theres no food but snacks, and it’s recommended (and allowed) to just bring in your own food. I even saw a dnd session with their own baked goods at a table.
After about 6 the groups start coming in. I saw not only tcg’s being played but also a lot of all girl groups playing various board games.
Everyone was friendly including the staff. If I came in before the games started to be played I could probably of gotten in. But the beer got to me and I had to leave early. This place punches way above its weight and is pretty...
Read moreBeer selection was good though I would have enjoyed more Dayton area brews. That said, I had the Avocet and it was excellent.
Met some folks for KeyForge so we brought our own decks. The bar itself had a fairly large selection, but if you're looking for newest, latest, greatest, you won't find it there. That not to say there weren't good games, there were in fact some great games in the library but it was populated with a lot of mass market and/or older games. If you were looking for Dune Imperium or Lost Ruins of Arnak, you'd be out of luck.
Maybe in the harshness of daylight hours, it seems more worn than what you'd want. There is no food service offered but you can carry in. The FB page says no TV and no music but there was music being played. Not obtrusive or loud but just different that how it is advertised.
I would go back but only if I knew a group was going to be there. Not a ton of table space but it wasn't crowded on a...
