While looking for breakfast joints one morning I came across this little place and decided to check it out. It's right on the main drag in Keyport. And it is indeed, little. There is very limited seating so get there early. We did and we had to wait 15 minutes.
TO THE MANAGERS: There were two tables in the back that were completely empty and none of the employees would allow us to be seated there. They were for "groups". Well if you have customers that are waiting and there are tables open, that does not go over well from the customers perspective. I suggest you use those tables for call ahead seating if you are going to do that. Also, no grumpy customers.
Now, the service was good and the food was great. It's a step up from diner food. My friend ordered the stuffed Nutella French toast. It's more like 2 pieces of French toast with Nutella in the middle. Don't call it stuffed if it isn't. You should buy un-sliced bread, cut it appropriately, and STUFF THAT NUTELLA IN THERE! Regardless of that, it was delicious. I ordered the eggs Benedict and the first time they brought it out, the sauce was brown and disgusting looking. I politely asked them for a new plate, they happily obliged, and it came out perfect the second time. It was scrumptious. I don't think I took a breath in-between bites.
Aside from the little quirks, this is a great...
Read moreWent back here after about a year and have lowered my review by a star. The person that seated us appeared distracted/uninterested in his job. Asked for diet cola, no lemon, no straw, our usual order. He brought the drink with both. I ordered a reuben. It was opened face, which I like. The bread was a cheap packed soft rye bread, russian dressing, a thin layer of sauerkraut, and about 3-4 very thin slices of italian corned beef covered with a thin slice of swiss cheese. The corned beef was placed across the middle of the two slices of bread covered by the swiss cheese. Both my wife and I agreed it was not an appetizing looking sandwich. The fries that accompanied the sandwich looked like they were fried but were soggy and unappealing. The best thing on the plate was the pickle slice. This was one of the worst reubens I have ever had. My wife had a Keyport burger. She ate half and decided the other half was not worth taking home.
After two less than mediocre lunches, I doubt I will be returning here.
From a year ago: Nice cafe. Service was fine. The corned beef hash was okay but seemed to be fried. Limited...
Read moreI was told by my sister this place was really Good as well as a friend of mine so I decided to try it. The food was in fact delicious but unfortunately I wouldn’t return due to the service. Upon walking in all 3 staff members looked at us and for 15 minutes didn’t even acknowledge us. After I asked for someone to greet us and let us know how long the lady who I guess owns it said I can’t have a highchair in the asile right now you will have to wait 20 minutes. There were 4 empty tables at that moment so I said we have children why is it that difficult to seat us. Finally she sat us in a corner and the wait For the food took over 40 minutes, they also kept getting the meals wrong. Due to that experience and the lack of kindness and courtesy we will not return. The food was good but the...
