Dining at Henry’s today left my family and me with a singular impression: lackluster.
Food – 5/10 Our party sampled a range of dishes, from the reliable comfort of pancakes to the more adventurous Crab Benedict. While the pancakes were satisfactory, the Crab Benedict proved problematic. My first bite revealed an unpleasant surprise—a shard of crab shell lodged in my throat. When I alerted our server, I was informed, “It’s blue crab; it’s supposed to have shell in it.” If that is indeed intentional, the menu should feature a clear disclaimer. As it stands, the experience was more alarming than enjoyable. My recommendation: stick with the pancakes.
Atmosphere – 4/10 Henry’s embraces a nautical theme, but the execution detracts from comfort. We were seated near a massive captain’s wheel, positioned directly behind one member of our party, making it nearly impossible for him to sit comfortably. This awkward placement diminished our enjoyment, as did the requirement to exit through a crowded gift shop—an unwelcome final note to the meal.
Price – 4/10 In assessing value, we considered ingredient quality, preparation, and presentation relative to cost. Two Crab Benedicts totaled $30 (before tax and tip), which felt steep given the execution. Other members of our group, ordering different fare, found the pricing similarly inflated.
Service – 5/10 Service was adequate but uninspired. While drinks remained filled and food arrived promptly, our server’s demeanor conveyed a clear disinterest. After my inquiry about the crab shell, there was no follow-up, no apology, and no attempt to salvage the experience—a disappointing lapse in hospitality.
Final Verdict Henry’s offers a charming concept but falters in execution. With improved attention to comfort, transparency in the menu, and a more engaged service approach, the restaurant could rise above mediocrity. For now, it remains a place better suited for a simple breakfast than an adventurous...
Read moreThis was our first time at Henry’s tonight. It’s a nice place with very friendly staff. The food we ordered that was good was the potato skins, She Crab soup, and mozzarella sticks. For entrees 4/5 of us ordered chicken and 1 ordered the pulled pork. Everyone’s chicken had a rubbery consistency and wasn’t able to be eaten. The pork had an unusual smell and wasn’t eaten. The reason why I am giving more than one star per category is because the service was great, which made the atmosphere great… all up until I had to ask the manager about why the chicken was comped but not the pulled pork. The manager implied that the pork was fine and asked why I thought it wasn’t. I said I’m just going to be very blunt at this point (because I had already explained to someone else), it smelled really bad. I apologized and tried to explain that I did not intend to be insulting at all but my husband just couldn’t eat it. The manager responded that she was very insulted, had served 700 orders of the pork today, and so on. She was visibly shaken even though I was calm and not upset at all. Her reaction turned a very friendly, controlled transaction into an uncomfortable, unprofessional situation. I would not have even written a review had I not been made to feel like I need...
Read moreSo, we were seated by someone who did not look too enthused to be there. It took about 10 minutes and us seeing about four waitresses walk by before somebody took our drink order. Not to mention the place was not crowded at all. I ordered a ribeye, medium, it came out close to being well done, the mac & cheese looked like Stouffer’s mac & cheese, and tasted terrible. The mashed potatoes tasted very instant like. My husband got broiled trout with crabcakes, shrimp, and scallops. The trout had a lot of bones, which we understand can happen however one that he been into was very large flat long wide that nearly pricked the roof of his mouth. The shrimp was overcooked the crabcake had a piece of crab shell in it , so he did not finish it. The food was subpar. I don’t know where the four star or five star reviews came from because that was not our experience at all. I was very disappointed that I had to pay $80 for that meal. The only saving grace was that the waitress was extremely kind pleasant and efficient once we did get her at our table. we have been down here for the last 24 years and I’ve never had a restaurant experience, in regards to the food quality, this bad. In the pic attached , the bone that neatly poked the roof of mouth is at...
