Pho Saigon — Restaurant in Killeen

Here's What I wrote on yelp.

The place has been around for about 5 yrs now. If you haven't been then you NEED to check it out.

"My experience here at pho saigon vietnamese noodles in Killeen, Tx

I strolled into this restaurant at right around 6 pm and was immediately seated. The friendly staff greeted me with a subtle smile and mentioned I could be seated anywhere.

Setting down my bags, I went to the restroom. Clean. One of the first indicators of a good restaurant, and a good indication of hygiene.

I noticed, when I went to the counter, that there was ozarka water bottles that they pour the water from. Another plus in my opinion. I was prepared to purchase a separate bottle of water and they have you covered.

As I was seated, I took a glance at the menu. Quite a few options, I noticed the pho right away.

Scanning down I didn’t notice any veggie options and flipping through the menu, there were few added pages of dishes, mostly specials. The pho was definitely the highlight of the venue and the other options were supplemental.

I figured, vietnamese = pho, so why not go with it. I requested a special order of pho with tofu minus the meat and they gladly accommodated.

As soon as I was able to open my laptop to start typing this review I was served. Literally 5 minutes from when I was seated.

Later I found out that the broth, made from beef stock, had been prepared MAX 24 hrs… not the best practice but at the same time its not a game breaker. Its on me for not asking prior to order if they had a veggie broth option.

The pho was good with the added veggies served with it, a spruce of lime, and a few jalapeños.

I did order a side of rice to supplement the food volume I eat and it was good, steamed rice, though it be white (its a personal preference to select brown when available).

So overall, service: 4 star food: 4 star (taste made it but would like veggie options) ambiance: 3 stars (its very quite here but they have a news channel running which does not parallel a traditional pho environment)

So overall I would give it a 3.5 star. Would I recommend coming here? Of course, if your not vegetarian. If you are, my follow up question is are you ok with eating a veggie pho with beef broth? if so then yes make the trip its delicious...

Four stars is fair for this place.Pho is delicious. It’s similar as a food court(you don’t have to pay the tip, because you order from front desk). Maybe that’s why there are so many one stars comments about their customer service. The price and food size are nice. If you are look for some food restaurants where you can full your stomach with a cheap price, it’s the restaurant you are looking for. However, if you are looking for some restaurants is fancy or as a dating place, this place is definitely not for you. Pho is pre-cooked. I guess they cooked a big pot of beef soup at the morning(that’s the traditional way to cook pho). After, you ordered the pho, they will cook fresh noodles for you then add meat , soup and noodles together. That means you can get your pho for two minutes after you order. You have the right to judge if that is good or bad for their cooking style. However, that works for me who only have 1 hour lunch break and wanna get my food asap. If you rush for time, only care if the food is delicious, this restaurant is a good option. However if you care about your eating environment or fancy healthy food, please don’t go there. Anyway, it only charge you 10 dollars for one pho, don’t expect they can offer you some road...

UPDATE my spouse ended up with pink eye later that day and went to minor emergency... I did receive a call back from the inspector and the restaurant was inspected today, and there are definitely issues.... The restaurant has been given an opportunity to clean up before the next scheduled inspection which is already scheduled.... I hope they get it together but I will never be back. The nonchalant attitude of the owners concerning rodent droppings being present let’s me know that’s not a place to trust.... But y’all enjoy💁🏽‍♀️

RODENT DROPPINGS I posted in the Killeen fb group full story/pictures Ordered food heading to table to sit we noticed rodent droppings on the floor and on some chairs. I walked around and took pictures while my spouse requested a refund. When she explained why the guy came over to the table picked the droppings up and suggested we sit somewhere else as they brought out our food we declined and asked for a refund he had the nerve to still suggest we take our order to go. No give me my money back period. Definitely reported to the health dept. Sadly several people sitting and eating at the time continued to do so.... I added pictures to their google page don’t know how...
