To start I think I only seen one cook and 1 waitress so to be fair they did all they could possibly do at that moment with all the people they had one big group looked like some kinda school or church group so they had more than a handful and way more than 2 oh and a bar tender to many people for 3 people to do much more than they did they worked hard so this was to much to be expected to handle any better than than did .I would give another try I enjoyed the taste of the food but it did take forever with small kinda cramped dinning and the food was not warm like my pulled pork was not even somewhat warm and the fries where cold and started to get hard before I could finish them and I was stuffing my face as fast as I could ... Lol to hurry and keep up with old man so he wouldn't have to sit and wait to long we already been waiting about 1hr on the food and I was hungry..lol anyways I don't know if it sat so long waiting to be picked up by waitress or wasn't warm to begin with . I think over all it was just a bad day or time for that many people and new ones that came in to have no standing room hardly this is a small place and only 3 people total I seen working 1 in kitchen and 2 out in dining area 1 for tables 1 for bar and I do think the table waitress also ran register and I think the bartender she helped when she could get away from the bar and she was very pregnant so big applause to these 3 they need raises and help with some of the duties they all kept a smile and good manners no matter crowd of slowed down which wasn't but a breather second, so I do believe this place deserves a better rating with another visit for sure. I wanted to give more but honesty had to be my final for this visit but don't take my 1 and only visit for this to be your decision because if I get the chance I do believe it to be worth a other visit to see if was just a bad day and of course kids fun fest was down town as well but anyways please go and see for yourself and don't let my only visit to them so far be any factor to your decision they do deserve at least another visit . Please I would like to see your thoughts on your visit my husband loved the hamburger and he is kinda picky . Like I said the food was good just wasn't warm enough to me and I think it just that before the poor thing could get to it and then to me is when it gotten cold. Over all great place and will plan...
Read moreMy lunch partner and I decided to head away from our usual haunts in Bristol and take a casual trip down 11W into downtown Kingsport. We were primed for a good burger, and Backwoods Burger Bar didn't disappoint. They serve a big, big ole burger with quite a few options perfect for varied taste buds. First things first, Backwoods is in an old corner building on Market St. The decor is suitable to the menu, replete with preserved big and small game trophies, original brick walls, high ceiling and reeks of the kind of place that says this is not a "tres chic" cloth napkin place. Trek to the back wall for the toilet. A beer or two spilled on the floor wouldn't be too out of place. We loved it. Back to the real reason to go there - the burgers. My partner ordered the Mr. Cheesy, no frills, and getting the add-ons and condiments special ordered didn't upset the friendly, energetic young lady who waited on us. He's picky about his burgers! I ordered the Shiner, and as a Bleu cheese lover my tongue was already geared up for it. I was delighted with the add-on leaf lettuce (not iceberg, thank you very much), Bleu cheese dressing, melted Bleu cheese crumbles and bacon. No diet burger here! We both had fries, homemade and plentiful. They serve several other sides which come with your burger. The beer choices were good, the draft was cold. I wouldn't have enjoyed my burger as much without an ice cold draft beer. I took a while eating mine, not just to savor it but also enjoy the huge pile of fries. It was a big burger too. I'm not a fan of smashed burgers, and Backwoods patties are large, hand shaped, and cooked medium well, just the exact size of the bun. Wonderful! Okay, if the burger was that freakin' delicious (it was), why only a 4? Please fix the toilet seat!!! I prefer staying out of the bowl. Otherwise, Backwoods has climbed to the top of my burger and beer place to eat. My lunch partner agreed, noting that the jaunt down 11W was well worth it. Excellent burger for a...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. I wanted a good small business owned burger that was close to me in Kingsport. I normally go to blountville to eat at Bondos to Burgers but it’s 20min away. I wanted to just pickup a burger and eat at home. I ordered online and ordered a simple everything cheeseburger and a cheeseburger with mustard ketchup and pickles and home fries. Got it home and had a plain burger with pickles and a smidge of mustard and a plain burger with pickles and a smidge of Mayo. I had to go to the store buy the condiments and fix my burgers. I ate the fries immediately and they were stale. Usually home fries are even good cold but these were obviously reheated. I took a bite of burger plain when it came to see if I could eat it but NOPE. The buns they choose to use aren’t even good they are sort of a spongy type bun not a good soft bun that can either make or break a burger. Also the flavor of everything tasted like the grill needs to be cleaned as well as the fryer. I’m sorry to write a bad review but the owners need to know. When I called I was told no manager on duty and they would remake my food. I declined because it wouldn’t t have fixed the problem. Even after I added cheese put buns in a pan to warm up and added my toppings I only ate half and stopped. To the owners go to Bondos and experience a burger made fresh with good ingredients and please step it up we NEED a good burger joint in Kingsport that isn’t breaking the bank. Your prices were fair but Bondos is even cheaper and their food quality is EVERYTHING. I prefer your fry choice over Bondos but they need to be fresh with...
