Southern Craft BBQ Kingsport — Restaurant in Kingsport

My wife and I are always looking for new places and we saw this opened up so we went last night. The service and waitress was friendly and a good server. The place was just like any restaurant in the city. The food was sub par and expensive for the portions. I ordered deviled eggs for an appetizer. They were pretty bad. Full of pickles and pickle juice also had an off taste. I ordered burnt ends and pork belly. The burnt ends tasted like the stuff they put in natural gas to make it smell. The pork belly was good. All three barbeque sauces were basically vinegar with stuff added not good at all. My wife's pulled pork was the same it has that gas taste to it. I really wanted to like this place. If I was just rating for service, definitely 5/5. The staff were all very attentive & friendly. Oh, and the peanut butter pie I had for dessert was delicious. However, the food itself was mediocre at best. I got the brisket, ribs, tots, fried green tomatoes & cornbread. Both the meats and cornbread were incredibly dry and flavorless, like someone forgot about them & then reheated a few times. The tomatoes & tots were ok. The BBQ sauces seemed to be watered down. Besides the peanut butter pie being good, there was some sort of sweet & spicy relish included, and it was the highlight of the main meal. We had such a fantastic experience at Southern Craft! The service was amazing—friendly, attentive, and quick. Everything came out fast and fresh, and every bite was delicious. We tried the fried green tomatoes, pulled pork nachos, smoked turkey, and okra, and all of it was excellent. They also have great options on the kids’ menu, which made it perfect for the whole family.
