Time and time again in life, I'm reminded that it's not where we are, nor what we're doing, but who we are with that truly creates an experience. My short time at Model City is a shining example of exactly this philosophy. I spent perhaps an hour at this bar. I came in close to closing time, when most service industry folk would be ushering people out. I had the pleasure of running into Hunter and Cameron. Not only were they both Johnny on the spot, there was a whole separate element to the service. There was something truly authentic about the conversation with these two, one that is difficult to place a traditional value on. They were good, honest men. This is a quality that is less than common in the crazy world of today.
Upon first glance, it could be easy to walk into this bar and think its worth passing by. However, the folk who own this place seem to have placed both value and faith into their staff, and that seems to have resulted in a staff worth caring for. I've been fortunate enough to have visited a great number of bars all over the world, and I will give this place 5/5, simply for the quality of the staff that I saw during my visit. This is what the industry should be. Please stop by and feel at home, Monday night is for trivia.
Thanks for your time, to Hunter and Cameron. Best of luck in...
Read moreI was just passing through and looking for a great place to try a few new taps and I found it. Bar Tenders where extremely friendly and knowledgeable about what was on tap. There may have been some live music down the street but if you want to just kick back and enjoy a brew this is the place to do it. I wish I had been there earlier to try the food but the beer was enough with a great selection of local and regional beers. This will definitely become a stop on my bi-yearly drive from Florida to Mass. P.S. if they have a Sour on tap try it because that was my favorite! Best of luck mates and remember to drink...
Read morethis was a decent little place in the up-and-coming downtown Kingsport area.. needs some major work done however if they plan on being a place for people to come in to have a meal. the front seating area is very small so my family and I went to the back of the building where they had what seemed to be plastic patio tables and foldable plastic chairs for the furniture, along with three or four loud space heaters set up since that part of the building doesn't hold heat well. the service was poor, although I was there at the beginning of the dinner rush. this place has potential to be successful with...
