We finally made it to Punjabi Dhaba in Kingston Springs on Saturday afternoon to check out if this restaurant hit the North Indian, home-cooked comfort spot for me. I ordered the dishes with Medium heat.

I really wanted the Aaloo Parantha (spiced potato-filled, pan-fried flatbread) but they only serve that until 1pm, and we arrived after that cut-off.

So, I ordered the Tandoori Chicken (entree - 6 pcs), Lamb Curry and Saag Paneer. I have a lot of leftovers that will be good for at least 3 lunches.

Tandoori Chicken: Well seasoned, served with sauteed spiced onions. The pieces were small, and I wish they had served it with lemon wedges. Served by itself.

Saag Paneer: The Saag was the Real Deal - slightly bitter (a mustard greens and spinach blend), thick, smooth, and delicious. The paneer pieces were sparse and seemed just cut off a paneer block to be heated through. I would have been on Cloud 9 if they offered this Saag with Makki di Roti, a classic Punjabi corn-dough, thick pancake. Served with Jeera (cumin seed) Rice.

Lamb Curry: This had plenty of bite-sized, tender, boneless pieces of Lamb in the thick onion-based gravy. It was a little light on salt and needed a bit of heat, but was otherwise decent. Served with Jeera Rice.

Is this the best Indian food in Nashville? No. Will I drive 40 miles to Kingston Springs often to get more of this? Also, no. Did this give me all the authentic Punjabi home-cooked comfort food vibes? 100% Yes.

I plan to go back specifically to get more Saag and to try their Aaloo Parantha, but I will probably wait until I happen to be in that area...

Wasted an hour of my time this evening on this place.

I called and asked if a to-go order could be brought out to my car, as I had my three young children (all in car seats) in the car, and was not able to go into the restaurant to pick up the food.

I was assured that they would be able to bring the food outside (as every other restaurant does, especially post-COVID).

I arrived at the restaurant and called to let them know I was there, at which time I was told that the food was not ready yet. After about 20 minutes of the kids crying, I called to check on the food, at which time I was told that I’d have to come inside to pick up the food.

I reiterated that I was not able to come inside because I had 3 young children with me. They replied that there was no way they could accept payment (other restaurants have always been able to take my card, run it, and bring it back out???).

I had no choice but to leave without the food.

A few minutes later, someone else called and offered to come out, get my card, and run it. But by that time it was too late; I was halfway home already.

I won’t be going back. The food is very mid, anyway, if youre familiar with good Indian cuisine.

It’s alright in a pinch, especially as there aren’t any other Indian restaurants in the area. But if you want some really good Indian food, I suggest 615 Chutney, Taj, Bombay Palace, or Curry and Tikka in Nashville.

But restaurants need to be able to accommodate the needs of their customers. Next time I’ll pick a place that’s willing to do that without...

I used to eat chicken curry and roti, things were ok, ot didnt taste great but had no choice, then one the i ordered biryani, what they did was simply mixed the rice on chicken curry that i used to eat , next week i ordered goat curry, it was not fresh, i knew they just microwaved it, i usually dont leave a bad review for taste, but another week when i ordered snd sat on table while waiting for my food the cashier with attitude asks me for dine in or to go, i said dine in, then the cashier tells me if you are dine in why didn't you tell me before, i told you are supposed to ask while taking the order, manager interrupts then says we get around thousands of customers everyday 🤣, cant ask everyone they have to tell, then i realized I can argue with a person with such mindset, i told buddy when the cashier takes order he is supposed to ask and he cant shoe attitude just for this thing, then the manager said this is how our service is, i was like ok, boss first of all your food is not worth the price, it is one of the worst punjabi restaurant ever been, i used to come because i didn't have a choice, i always used to get strange smell from...

Like most of the Indian restaurants in the USA, the ambiance and service were sub per however, the food was pretty decent. We started with chicken tandoori and lassi. The salted lassi was the best with a hint of mint and spices in it. It was very refreshing and great as palette cleanser. The sweeter one ( mango lassi) was rather too sweet and less thick. The chicken tandoori was decent, and was juicy. Moving on, we got some garlic and chili naan. The naan was made fresh and hot. We got some paneer bhurji, and chicken korma. The paneer was soft and spicy, and the chicken korma was decent too. Overall, the food was decent. But I would love if the washroom and dinning tables were little more cleaner.

We absolutely LOVED our experience with this little restaurant! Traveling, we happened to see the ad for it on the info sign exiting the ramp to get gas. Since it was so early, we didn't have much hope they would be open, but check out their awesome hours! It's a log bldg tucked away in an unusual spot, and it's great because it's literally 1 min from the highway and away from traffic. The employees are super friendly and respectful, and the food was INCREDIBLE! We got Chicken Tiki Masala, Mattar Paneer, spring rolls, and Naan bread and rice, and every single thing was beyond perfect. I'm taking the time to review it because I would want someone to share this place with me!!!
