Kevin’s Bar and Restaurant, located on Wyoming avenue in Kingston, Pennsylvania, is a fine dining restaurant and part of the Friedman Hospitality Group, known for providing exquisite dining experienced.
We arrived on a Saturday night for our 7 p.m. reservation and were seated immediately. The establishment was at about 90% capacity, and likely exceeded that during our visit. Although the filled tables may have been due to a comedy show at a nearby venue, it is highly recommended to reserve a table at least a day in advance, especially on the weekend. On a side note, Kevin’s also has three areas that accompany private parties, so large groups are welcome. Again, I would definitely make a reservation well in advance. There is also ample parking.
Mark, our server, was the epitome of professionalism. He was very personable and amiable, engaging us in conversation every time he came by (he even engaged in a birthday celebration at a nearby table, singing “Happy Birthday” with the group!). He knew the menu very well, and not only did he assist us when choosing our selections, but also told us how to have the dish prepared.
For starters, we chose the Pumpkin Butternut Squash Bisque and the All the Onion Soup. The bisque was lightly topped with fried sage and toasted pumpkin seeds. It was very smooth, rich and creamy, and tasted almost like pumpkin pie. The soup consisted of red, Cippollini, yellow and pearl onions as well as leeks and shallots. It also included brioche croutons, Cooper sharp and smoked gouda cheese. Both offerings were extremely delicious.
Next came the bone-in pork chop, with apple hot honey glaze, bacon, a potato puree and carrots. The meat was prepared medium-well, and was very tender and juicy. The lady said it was perhaps the best pork chop she ever ate. I chose the steak frites, a dry rubbed Coulette steak, with dollops of tangy steak sauce, french fries, and perfectly prepared asparagus. The steak was prepared medium-rare (as suggested by Mark) and was very savory. Even the french fries were exemplary, golden and crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside.
Even though we both felt like we had enough incredible food, we couldn’t leave without making selections from the dessert menu. The French toast french pudding was superb and decadent, with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and drenched in a hot maple syrup. The serving was very generous, and I enjoyed every bite.
We had to wait a few minutes for our dessert, because the lady ordered a chocolate chunk cookie with, again, a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. The reason for the slight delay was due to the fact that the cookie dough was freshly baked, served hot, with a crispy top and a gooey middle.
Kevin’s fired on all cylinders with this meal, and was perhaps the best meal I had all year. As a member of the Friedman Hospitality Group, this place did not disappoint. Everything was practically flawless. My only recommendation would be to have some kind of sound buffers emplaced. With the establishment at full capacity, the high ceilings made for a cacophonous, surround-sound experience. However, the incredible meal provided the perfect...
Read moreHey All, Ok, so it was our anniversary, and we wanted to try someplace new. So after hearing from our friends how good Kevin's is, we reserved our table and waited for the day to arrive. When we arrived at Kevin's, we were greeted by our hostess and shown to our booth table for 2. Annette was out server for the evening and she was incredibly knowledgeable about most every item that my wife and I inquired about. The House made "everything bagel" bread and plate of seasoned dipping oil, was fantastic. For our appetizers, my wife ordered their house salad and I ordered a bowl of French Onion soup. Both, were absolutely delicious. From there, my wife ordered the Filet Mignon with potatoes and asparagus and I ordered the strip steak, also with potatoes and asparagus. As far as steak goes, this was some of the most tender steak that I've had the pleasure of eating. The truffle butter was very flavorful as well. To say we cleaned our plates, would be an understatement. To drink, I had a beer and she ordered a glass of Moscato. The Moscato was very good....so much in fact, that we had 2 bottles ordered and shipped to our home...(not from Kevin's......from an online place we found that sells that brand) Finally, For dessert, My wife ordered the Creme Brule and I had the French Toast bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on the side, all sitting in a plate of caramel sauce. The flavors of both desserts were stunning. Each bite left ud wanting to get to the next bite as soon as we could.
The service's from the entire staff, were very good and appreciated.
We are going back for future date nights, lunches and any other reason we can think of. Our goal is to try everything that they have to offer, for as long as it takes us to do so.
I hope this helps you to make the decision to go to Kevin's and give them a shot. I feel that you cannot go wrong here. I know we didn't, for the food we ordered.

Read moreKevin’s Bar and Restaurant...The outside? Simple and unassuming. The name makes you think that it’s a neighborhood hangout. We don't know if this is to keep the riff raff (us) away or to keep things simple, but what's on the inside is more that a 'bar and restaurant' and by far not simple.
Kevin’s has the feel of classic Chicago steakhouse. Dimly light, great beer, wine and cocktails, and dishes that will blow your mind! Is it pricey, yeah. Is it worth it, you bet. This isn't going to be a weekly stop for you (and if it is, please take us!), but once a month spoiling yourself or date night or 'hey, let's just go eat awesome food and wine and not worry about the cost tonight'...this, this is the place for that.
Here are some of our thoughts about our trip.
Risotto Fra Diavlo – "I often dream of a great risotto, only to be let down. I began to think I had dreams too big for one risotto. This however was soft and moist in all the right ways, with tender, seasoned shrimp and clams that were complimented with a flavorful tomato sauce."
Sweet Corn & Crab Risotto - "This roasted, creamy corn with Asiago cheese was the risotto of dreams."
Lobster Mac and Cheese – "This mac and cheese contained all the joys of eating a well done lobster roll, the taste of cooper and gouda cheeses, the hearty lobster presence and filling nature."
Kobe Sliders – "Tender, buttery and melts in your mouth…nom. Perfectly caramelized onions and just a hint of spice from the horseradish sauce."
Rack of Lamb - "Ordered medium rare, it was seared perfectly on the outside and tender and flavorful on the inside. Like having a tootsie pop…only made of meaty heaven, on a stick."
