Kingza opened in March 2018 with Amy being the owner and manager of the establishment. Amy and her family moved to the United States in the year 1990. Growing up, she would help her dad out in the restaurant that he opened a few months after moving here here to the US. He saw potential in his daughter and pushed her to be the best she could be. She worked very hard to bring customers a great and unique dining experience. Always open for constructive criticism, she kept thinking of ways to bring guests the best tasting Asian food that she and her dad could deliver. This is how Kingza came about . She took suggestions and ideas from both her dad and brother and combined what she learned in the restaurant and put her own twist on things. Amy originally wanted to open Kingza in NYC but since she knew the market was flooded out, she thought “why not bring it to other states besides NY?” So one day while visiting a friend she passed through Kingston and she fell in love with the area. She enjoyed how beautiful and quiet it is, and really loved the people living here. So she quickly contacted the local real estate company and found that the current building she is in, was free. Amy prides herself most on giving her guests the best tasting food they can get in NEPA with a cultured experience. To her, it’s not about profit. It’s about a sense of community. Amy plans on getting more involved in the community by hosting fundraiser events, and also helping other charitable organizations and knows Kingza can play a critical roll in community engagement. Although new to Kingston, her team is not new to the food world. Her brother is the head chef and has specialized in Sushi for more than 15 years. He studied the art of sushi in Japan by living there for a few years learning the ins and outs of preparing the fish, and how to keep it fresh and clean. His favorite dish to make and to eat is the Sakura Roll made with shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, and topped with spicy tuna and spicy mayo. The other chef is specialized in Thai food, residing in Thailand for more than 10 years and moved to the US a couple of years ago. All of the food Kingza prepares is healthy and fresh and on the top of the list for some of the greatest food in the valley- as well as their customer service. Kingza also offers a happy hour from 5-7pm Monday- Saturday .Time to eat!On my visit I wanted to try something new. Something my mouth has never experienced before. So, as you can see pictured I ordered a buffet of items. Including:
a whole Japanese BBQ Squid (this was as my friend Phyllis would say, exquisite!) If you’re not used to the texture of squid it may throw you off at first. As it is rubbery, chewy, and thick, squid is however delicious!! The bbq sauce they smothered it in was sweet and savory.
One of the popular rolls I ordered was the cherry Blossom Roll- it tastes as good as it looks and too pretty to eatBut I ate it anyway.
One of the better items we tried was the seafood yaki soba- this dish was so full of veggies, broth and noodles and was beyond amazing and would definitely be preferred again.
For an appetizer, we tried something off the wall sushi pizza- made with spicy tuna, avocado, masago, and spicy mayo. Crunchy, full of texture, and tasty!
The yellowtail jalapeño roll was absolutely amazing . The texture of the fish was just right and it melted in my mouth with every bite. The sauce it was coated in was so good and I could have eaten that all night long. So good .
Finally, the Thai yellow curry with chicken, bell pepper, noon, basil leaves, snow peas, zucchini, mushrooms, smothered in a green curry paste. This is something I’d like to curl up on the couch with and eat while Snowed in here in NEPA. Just a cozy dish and...
Read moreMold, literal rocks in the food, microwaved everything, and waiters that are shocked you want to pay to eat there. Certainly the worst meal I’ve ever had in my life. Genuinely cannot wait until the health department closes this place down with a million violations.
Our food came out scarily quick and we kept hearing a microwave beeping from back in the kitchen. All of our food, from the chicken, the carrots, lo Mein, and even shrimp all tasted exactly the same. The broccoli had literal rock pebbles in it when I bit down so it almost broke my tooth.
Everything was rubbery so I’m guessing their microwave is almost broken from being used so much.
We were there for 24 minutes total and received our food on our table after just 3 minutes. No one can make chicken or hibachi that quickly without a microwave. We then spent the next 18 minutes waiting for a waiter to bring our check after I almost broke a tooth on their broccoli rocks.
While waiting, I used the men’s room which has black mold in the stall and white mold on the sink. Good to know you get two types all in one place. But there’s a giant gap in the door of the stall so anyone using the stall can see straight through to the diners in the dining room. But that also means they can see you doing your business. Eww!
Everything about this place screams HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS! Unless you want salmonella or want to have diners watch you poop while enjoying the mold and chipped paint on the wall, stay far away from this place.
Even if you go, be prepared to have the waiters shocked you want to pay. It’s $57 for two lunches. But we hope there is a refund of some kind coming our way because the inevitable diarrhea tomorrow. Thank goodness we paid with a credit card so we can get...
Read moreDecided to try out the new kid on the block, and was really hoping they were going to be amazing. It was not to be so. We ordered to go. A steak hibachi dinner, a chicken teriyaki dinner and 2 shrimp tempura appetizers. The chicken teriyaki dinner had a substitution of noodles for the rice that normally comes with it, this understandably was an upcharge. I was handed a large paper bag with lots of individual containers in it, so far so good. I get home and start unpacking the bag and to my surprise, no noodles for the chicken teriyaki dinner, which we paid extra for. As far as the chicken teriyaki itself, it sub par consisting of 2 thin pieces of boiled chicken that had some sauce drizzled on it. I don't think they even tried, I've had better chicken teriyaki from Redner's frozen food section. The steak hibachi dinner was just ok, but their noodles are horrible. If you want authentic asian noodles, try Knorr Asian Sides; you'll be happier and your taste buds will thank you. The shrimp tempura appetizers were average, oh yeah they screwed that up too. Instead of just shrimp, they gave shrimp and vegetables appetizers. I'm sure that was an extra cost. So average, but the brown sauce they gave to dip it in was atrocious. A taste of smoky sweetness instead of what every other asian restaurant uses. Sadly my hopes of this restaurant being amazing were utterly obliterated. Don't waste your time. If you do decide to punish your taste buds, be warned to watch the pricing too. If you order ie. the chicken teriyaki dinner its $16.95 and a $2.00 charge for the chicken, for a grand total of $18.95. I wonder what happens if you don't pay the extra $2.00. Just rice, onions,...
