Dewey's Pizza - Kirkwood — Restaurant in Kirkwood

We had just visited the STL zoo with our 3 grandchildren who were all very hungry so it was decided to have pizza. We stopped by the Dewey's pizza in Kirkwood as we really enjoy Dewey's. This was our 1st visit to the location in Kirkwood and as luck would have it we arrived just before the dinner rush so our timing was perfect. We got a table immediately. We were seated, allowed time to look over the menu, and then we ordered. Our waitress informed us about their fall specials which were the Smashing pumpkin pizza and their Harvest salad. She sold my wife and I on the salad. We ordered the entree size salad as planned on splitting it between the two of us. The salad came out quickly while the pizzas were being made in the kitchen. Our 3 grandchildren were watching the pizza kitchen work on them via the see-through window they have. My wife and I were eating the salad when the waitress stopped by to check on us and I told her that the salad wasn't bad but it was missing one of the main ingredients for the salad, the toasted pumpkin seeds. She looked hard at our salad and seen for herself that they were missing. She went to the kitchen and got a small garnish cup of seeds and returned to our table with an apology. But by the time this happened we were practically done eating the salad altogether. The manager whom actually brought the salad to our table failed to recognize that an ingredient was missing. Needless to say, we still enjoyed it and then the pizzas came out. They were wonderful and we all enjoyed those.

I would have given this Kirkwood Dewey's location 5 stars but am withholding that 5th star do to the mishap...

Atmosphere was excellent! The manager of the Kirkwood, Mo store was very polite and actually acknowledged my presence several times and the server Jon was polite and made sure my needs were met. Will totally recommend to my friends. Great selection of brews and server Jon was very inquisitive on my likes before serving. This is a restaurant and not a Pizza Hut where you fill like just another billfold walking in and questioning yourself whether to Tip! They take pride in cleanliness and taking care of their customers. They are all practicing COVID 19 even though it’s on the downslide. I felt safe walking to and from my car and the atmosphere on the adjoining streets feels safe with a lot of activity from adjoining businesses that were open. This is an establishment that I Totally recommend whether your by yourself, a couple, or taking the family out. Please show your gratitude for they deserve it and please patronize local business. Don't pay with cash? My fiance and I have been here a few times. Generally the service is quick. On our most recent visit our bill came to $55 for a pizza and a calzone, my fiance paid with a $100 bill. Our waitress said she would be back with our change but she never returned. A different waitress asked if we needed a check and we said we were waiting for our change. The second waitress then told us we could leave because we had already paid, I reminded her we had given them $100 on a $55 charge and we needed our change. I believe the manager was involved before we were able to get our change back, the whole ordeal took about 30 minutes. We did end up leaving an $11 tip. I'm just so confused about the situation. Was the first waitress stealing? Had she never seen a $100 bill before? Did she think she was getting an 80% tip? No one explained what exactly happened. So just be careful if you come here and...
