I want to start out by saying we are BIG Mission Taco Joint fans, we have been going to the Delmar and Soulard locations for years (mainly because they are close by other attractions we visiting). We happened to be in the Kirkwood area on this visit to St Louis so we visited the Kirkwood location for lunch. I have a 4 year old who is a picky eater and she wanted mac n cheese. Now she has happily eaten chicken tenders from Mission before, however, that is not what she wanted this time. We brought in her food for her and were seated. Our waitress took our drink order and my daughter started eating her mac n cheese. Another employee approached us, and informed us that outside food is not allowed in the resturant. When I said okay we will leave, I was told "Well it's fine this time because not much is going on." Either its a policy or its not. There were 3 other tables there, all with children, all had either drinks or snacks from home. I will say my "outside" food was from another resturant, however, it is not the first time we have taken another resturant's food into a Mission location for our child to eat. If that's that location's policy great, but it was awkward. The host saw us come in with the bag, our waitress saw us get the food out and took our drink order, and then an additional employee decided to address the issue. After we left the Kirkwood location, we visited the awesome staff at the Soulard location. (FYI they were BUSY, so "not much is going on" thing didnt apply here.) We had great service and great food, and our 4 year old happily ate her mac n cheese (which the waitress told her looked yummy).
Overall take away notes: Kirkwood location - staff are not friendly, not accommodating, and no opinion on the food because I didn't get to try any
Delmar and Soulard locations - GREAT staff, VERY accommodating and...
Read moreNo hostess at the front doors We walked around even into the arcade area looking for someone to help seed us a manager did come in 2 minutes later.... Seated us quickly.... Everything seemed wonderful ...We enjoy the atmosphere and we've eaten at other mission tacos over 50 times. The QR scan code on their digital menu was not functioning properly on an Apple phone or a Google phone.. No problem we got a physical paper menu.... Wait staff didn't mention the QR code ....didn't take the broken one away from the table ....seemed very distant from wanting to do anything helpful for the customer.... The table next to us had already ordered... And we're waiting with their drinks.. We ordered also approximately 90 seconds later. We had two waitresses because I believe someone was being trained. Excellent We should get better than average service if you're teaching someone how you want the service/ restaurant to be operated. ... After 18 minutes we had stopped the timer on the phone waiting for our food. The table next to us had received their food eaten and we're paying their bill... In the real timeline... We had still not received our small order of two tacos and one burrito?????? I'm not even sure the tacos are cooked aren't they made from pre-prepared ingredients??? We asked one server and they said they would be back in a moment like they were too busy or something to talk to an entire table in the restaurant... So 5 more minutes later we decided we need to actually eat dinner and walked out..
I guess we're just sad what happened to you mission Taco as a franchise???? What happened to even remote customer service??
You used to be one of...
Read moreWe love Mission Taco and thought we'd give the Kirkwood location a try.
We arrived at 4:30 on Sunday and asked to be seated outside. We were told there would be a 5-minute wait while they cleaned off a table and they added our name to the waitlist. I even got a text message confirming we were on the list. We waited about 20 minutes and then I went to ask if we were going to be seated since it had been so long. The host apologized and said that our name must have fallen off the list. She said it would be another 5 minutes while they separated some tables outside so that we could be seated. This time I waited by the host stand so we wouldn't be forgotten and we still were. A new person entirely came out to ask if we'd been helped and ultimately showed us to a seat. We waited a long time for anyone to even ask us if we wanted something to drink. At this point the only reason we didn't leave was because we didn't want to have a long wait at another place because we were now in the thick of dinner rush. Service continued to be slow the whole time we were there.
The food was definitely missing something but I can't put my finger on what. We love Mission Taco usually and the food is so good but for some reason this time it seemed like something was off, like they didn't use any salt? Not sure. But it was very lackluster.
This location is also super loud inside so if you're looking for something relaxing, you may want to try another location.
The arcade looks super fun and I've wanted to try it out every time I've visited, but the last couple of times it's been closed for a private event. Might be something fun for the...
