This used to be the best chinese (delivery) option in south Orlando, but is no longer. My order today featured egg-rolls that were fried at least two times, just soaked with oil. The crab rangoon used to be one of the best you could get in O-town (so many of the other local joints just refuse to put anything more than a tiny drop of cream cheese, I get it, its not real chinese food, but this isn't china and crab rangoon calls for a goodly dollop of cream cheese, get the hell over it and use it). They still have a lot of cream cheese in them, but now they come limp instead of crispy.
They make some peruvian dishes that are ok, but they have the same sloppy, retread taste and appearance as the rest of the food. Just about all of the appetizers must be bought frozen, the fried calamari is truly horrible. Not sure how you screw up Aji sauce, but they did.
The shrimp curry was the one bright spot. Not really spicy, but for your typical American chinese joint it has a little kick to it at least. It came with a decent amount of shrimp. Pretty sure they were frozen or canned but they still had decent taste with the curry.
I was actually looking forward to my meal, but I won't bother next time I am in town. It was a waste of 40 bucks, I wish I could revoke the tip I gave to the...
Read moreLing is the new owner with a new cook. Forget the old 88 Chinese restaurant this one is tastier and though they made a mistake on my order. Right away they realized it and the food I did get was amazing! They told me next time I came they would get be me what did order. Up next month they should be getting tea for customers to drink and decorations. Give them a try you won’t be disappointed!
A follow up, I've had their fried rice and it was very good, yet they have boneless spare ribs that were delicious and their sweet and sour chicken though was a star. The chicken has very good flavor, it's not freezer burnt or old like in some other places. However it's only one of two Chinese restaurants that has the great flavor and the right ratio of chicken to breading. Not a lot of breading and then a very small piece of chicken like some places do.Other high notes the owner gave me authentic Chinese chicken that is served in small real Chinese places and it was delicious! They are also thinking of making real dishes from China that you would have to travel out to Colonial drive and pay a lot more...
Read moreOrdered through door dash and said it would be 30 minutes. At 45 minutes and the door dash app still saying our order was still being prepared I clicked on help on the app and it said 88 Chinese delivers their own door dash orders and to call the restaurant. I called and a women answered blaming door dash, that they hadn’t made our order yet and would at least be another 30 minutes. Told they wouldn’t start making it until their driver came back. I said I wanted to cancel the order so the women that answered from 8& Chinese said “FINE, I will just cancel your order” and hung up on me. Complained to door dash customer service and they canceled the order because the women from 88 Chinese never did. Will never order from 88 Chinese and sending out emails to our neighbors and others that we know in Hunters Creek to spread the word to not spend their money here. Rude and an attitude. Not worth it. One star is the worst I can go, wish it allowed me to do negative stars. Women answering the phone needs some work on her...
