My first time dinning here. With 5 stars reviews I had high expectations. This what my experience was like. I showed up and the looking at the menu post outside. Hostess or server come out to talk to me and ask me if I have any questions about the menu. I say "I'm just looking at the menu". After 2 minutes she convince me to enter. Kind of weird of her to meet me outside and tell me the menu is different inside. But good on her working hard to get the sale.
Inside I ordered a natural juice passion fruit (parcha) it was okay. A little watered down for my taste. I was expecting that sour strong passion fruit taste and this didn't have it.
Next I ordered the monfongo Al al ajio with shrimp. Good presentation, as for the food Well, different. Let me explain In my experience when I ordered Al la ajio I expect a garlic sauce. This was not what I got. I got shrimp that were over cooked in a white sauce that look like Alfredo sauce. There was not garlic flavor and just weird. It was not bad or good. Just weird and it did not complement the monfongo. It tasted like water down Alfredo. Monfongo was thick and had no flavor also no salt, no garlic, and definitely no chicharrones inside. And the white sauce didn't help. Did I say the shrimp were over cooked if I didn't they where, hard and a very rubbery.
Then I ordered a flan for dessert. It came in a long black tray with powder suger all over it. A cherry and mint leaves on top. Never seen a vanilla flan with a cherry you use for drinks an mint leaves. The flan tested good. It was very flat and dense the caramel sauce was not that sweet. It looks like they baked in a sheet tray not a round cake pan in a baine Marie. Flan is supposed to be tall creamy and with a sweet caramel sauce. And this was far from it.
I hope when I go back I have a better experience and food. I every restaurant could have a bad day. I hope this was one of them and next time it...
Read moreFirst, when I walked in, no one was there to greet us, so we saw our reserve table w our name and went to sit. Then the waitress asked us why our party didn't have 6 people. we explained that 2 canceled due to cold weather night (Nov. 30, 2024). She was very rude telling us now I have to move u to a different table and section because I don't serve small party and it goes to the other waitress cause she serves a party of 4 etc, (very rude, mad attitude and loud). I found that very disrespectful. We definitely don't need to know that. Then, when she sat us at the different table, it appeared that the other waitress didn't want to take the party because it was supposed to be the first waitress (they argued in front of us). In the end, the same waitress served us after moving us. Then she took her time to offer us drinks and menus. To the point that the birthday girl at our party was very upset. We still manage to stay. Then I ordered the fried cheese w guava, which was good, small amount but good. I also ordered the sancocho, which was very good, so kuddos on that. However, the white rice was terrible and had salty flavor (good), but it was super undercooked. In my opinion the place is very expensive which I can definitely afford, but it's not worth it. Is a chinchorro with upscale restaurant prices. Overall, the food was ok. But definitely not going back because of all the waitress commotion between them. They have serious staff issues clashing. Is not right when that waitress tells the customers about all the restaurant problems. Like I said, customers do not need to know any of the restaurant problems. The staff should be better on this aspect. It can drag a business down since the staff is everything plus the face of a...
Read moreWe was there on Saturday after one of our personal/professional development gatherings. I think the establishment has great potencial. Exel was great, he was accommodating and came many times to our table to intervene and show face. We had asked for b12 shots then they came back stating there were none. I think the establishment has focused on the esthetic and entertainment but there’s a lot of opportunity of improvement on the service the servers provide… our server was not knowledgeable on drinks when asked for recommendations stating “they dnt drink” then the server that took over when bringing my bill; I was just brought a receipt of the total (not an itemized one) we were six on a table and we were charged 22% as if we were all on the same bill.. when we addressed it with the service we she seemed annoyed about it and I seen her walk to the counter and I could see her body language being annoyed, then either Exel or another male would come to our table… it was never and issue on the amount my only issue was my right to know what I was paying for by getting an itemize receipt. NOW I WILL WROTE THIS IN ALL CAPS….THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS THE ONE THING THAT MADE THE NIGHT GREAT! XIOMARA AND LUIS...
