My girlfriends and I went for brunch at the Blue Mermaid and we had a BLAST!! Two words: Mimosa flight - drop the mic. Jodi and I ordered two different flights, mango, blueberry-lemonade, blood-orange & watermelon 😋. Jodi swapped her mango for traditional orange juice. Laurie ordered a Bloody Mary. The brunch menu has several options. I chose the salmon eggs Benedict which was served on their homemade (read AHMAZING) buttery biscuits. (I ended up taking some home lol). Jodi had the breakfast burrito with homemade potato chips (delicious). Laurie ordered the eggs frijoles which had a black bean "bun" as the base. All three of us enjoyed our meals and thought they were delicious. Would highly recommend this place as a casual dine-in spot for brunch or dinner if you're in the area.

Miss the old Portsmouth location, but Blue Mermaid still has some of the most unique dishes in the area. The restaurant seemed empty for a Saturday and not as comforting as the old location. However, the service was great - our waiter made us feel right at home. Our favorite dish, the paella, no longer exists. The lobster quesadilla is the last man standing and still hits the spot! Try it as an appetizer as the portion is quite large. The exotic-themed menu has mouth-tingling spices throughout most of its dishes. Their homemade fire-roasted salsa and jalapeno pesto sauces were excellent; and highlighted their respective dishes. I will say that the stars of the show are their cocktail menu and desserts. Be sure to try their Key Lime Pie - it's awesome.

Our family went here cause it was always amazing downtown portsmouth. We were excited to see the menu and try the food. We started with the lettuce wrap and it was not what we remembered. The kid got a lobster roll and was extremely disappointed at the amount of lobster to roll ratio. My wife's shrimp was over cooked and gave her a I shouldn't eat this taste in her mouth "dirty" she stated. My meal the short ribs were ok but nothing I would rave about. After being done with our meals at this point our waitress was no where in sight. Waited some time then the better half went and got the bill from the host. Extremely disappointed and miss what the blue mermaid used to be.

Party of 10 reservation, this review is a consensus upon all in the group(who mind you are empathetic kitchen workers)

I’m going to TRY to not go into huge detail, the service was terrible and the food was NOTHING like the last time I went(everyone in the group agreed) the waiter was hardly a waiter, she didn’t go around the table & ask everyone what they wanted for drinks we had to flag her down multiple times, she simply refused to make eye contact with everyone at the table paying for her service via what would have been a nice fat tip had she even tried. After about 25 minutes everyone had their drinks & the people who wanted coffee got less than lukewarm cups barely half filled with really old coffee and an explanation that it was all they had left and would make more(when they should have just made more and brought out hot coffee to begin with.) Appetizers were forgotten, drinks were forgotten, entrees, desserts, forgotten, receipts were rung up incorrectly & the food was honestly gross, some of us didn’t order anything after appetizers because they were that unappetizing. The waitress might have been having a bad day but she still had a job to do & she did it really terribly, without any remorse or smiles... or anything. We liked coming here as a group for industry night, we like supporting locals, we like leaving big tips, next time we will be doing that somewhere else because even $9 was too much for the slop I ordered. I might sound high strung but you probably underestimate how much I’m willing to tolerate, I work in a kitchen and I know it’s hard. If she had even been friendly at all I probably wouldn’t have actually considered posting this but the whole experience...

My recent dining experience at Blue Mermaid left me thoroughly impressed on all counts. From the delectable food and refreshing drinks to the impeccable service and spacious ambiance, this establishment has firmly secured its place as a go-to spot for memorable gatherings.

Let's start with the star of the show: the food and drinks. Whether indulging in savory entrees, tantalizing appetizers, or decadent desserts, every bite was a delightful symphony of taste. The drinks menu was equally impressive, offering a diverse selection of libations to suit every palate and preference.

The staff were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure a seamless dining experience. From recommendations on menu items to prompt refills of drinks, their professionalism and warmth added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.

One of the standout of this establishment is its spacious layout, making it the perfect venue for large parties and gatherings. Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a night out with friends and family, there's ample room to accommodate everyone comfortably. Additionally, the plentiful parking alleviates any worries about finding a spot, making the dining experience hassle-free from start to finish.

In conclusion, if you're in search of a culinary gem that ticks all the boxes, look no further than Blue Mermaid. With its delicious food and drinks, impeccable service, spacious ambiance, and plentiful parking, it's a surefire recipe for a memorable dining experience. Whether dining with a group or flying solo, Blue Mermaid is guaranteed to leave a...

Have been to this restaurant on multiple occasions and have eaten several dishes there. They are an Island inspired business which came about from a trip the owners had taken to Grand Case. In a conversation I had with them they said they were were sitting on the beach. Looking across to Anguila and enjoying a plate of Goat ribs from a little meal shack there. The couple looked at each other and said this is the type of Business for us.

They started out in Portsmouth New Hampshire and migrated to their current location in Kittery Maine. They purchased a food truck to keep the business going while their Kittery location was under Construction. It has now grown to a very large catering operation for them.

They are a very Community minded family and feature events intended on giving to charities they believe in. I recently attended an event called a"Bring your own Flannel" or BYO Flannel, which you come dressed in Flannel to a Party which included a live band. It was a great time and the patrons all looked to be enjoying themselves immensely.

Their menu selection is based on a Caribbean style of cooking with the associated flavors and textures. Their goal was to bring the feel of the islands to New England while maintaining authenticity with the Seacoast. I had the opportunity to eat a couple meals there which ran the gamut from very spicy to pretty mild. They were all delicious.

The staff is friendly and fun to be around. If you are passing through the Seacoast area and feel hungry, THIS is the...
