Abridged Beer Company — Restaurant in Knoxville

I have been to many brewpubs in my life, but none of them can compare to the heavenly experience I had at Abridged Brewpub. This place is not just a pub, it's a paradise. The food, the drinks, the service, everything was beyond perfect. First, the group ordered nachos for the table and we were all blown away how phenomenal the chips were. I ordered the Crispy Chicken Abridged Burger, and let me tell you, it was the best decision I ever made. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and cooked to perfection. The aioli was creamy and tangy, the caramelized onions were sweet and savory, and the bacon was crispy and smoky. It was a symphony of flavors in my mouth. It was easily one of the top three best chicken dishes I've ever had in my life. And I've had a lot of chicken dishes. The beers and sours were also delicious. The fries were seasoned wonderfully and right in the middle of being crispy and wiggly. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. They made me feel welcome and comfortable. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's a must-visit for anyone who loves food and drinks. If you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Run, don't walk, to Abridged Brewpub. Arrived at 5:30 Friday night. Dining room was less than half full. Outside tables were 90% seated. Hostess was great. She warned us that our car would be towed even after hours if we parked at the doctors office on the hill behind the building. Initially our server was great but she was replaced by one that was wasn’t. The food took a full half hour to arrive, and it arrived in stages. My wife was finished with her sandwich before my burger arrived. I low key complained and our new server said that’s just how we do things here. We don’t hold food back if it’s ready, even if someone else’s is t ready. I suggested better timing on the front end rather than making guests awkwardly eat (and starve) on then back end, but she seemed to blow that suggestion off. When my burger did finally arrive 40 something minutes after I ordered it, was I surprised it was overcooked? Not really. Overall the food was greasy, fries seemed to have been cooked, discarded and then cooked again judging by the hollow, tasteless texture and dark coloration of half of them. Water was served warm at room temperature with no ice and when I asked for ice I was told there would be a wait for that. $40 for two people plus another $8 for a tip was a very big ask IMO. ...

Hands down the most ridiculous dining experience of my life. Went for a date night with my husband and our two friends to Abridged Beer Company. Everyone received their dinner after a LONG wait except for me. About 15 minutes after their food arrived, we finally got our servers attention, asked if my food was coming, and she said that she would check. She never returned. We asked another server to check on the order. He came back to tell us that my food “must have gone to another table,” but he assured us that the next burger up was coming to me. OVER ONE HOUR LATER, watching 7+ burgers go to different tables, and a discussion with the “manager”, my burger showed up... the manager decided to comp my food. When asked what they planned on doing about the horrible experience, laundry list of excuses from our rude server, and over 2.5 hour wait for all of the food to show up, the general manager and cook/ owner (who never even came out to apologize) said he would do nothing more than take my can of Diet Coke off our bill.
