My family had eaten here several times and recommended it to me. I had a party of 5, we called to make reservations for dinner, which went fine. When we arrived we were directed to the lone table in-between the door and bar, which was isolated from the rest of the dining room.
Our server was very nice but it was evident that they were overworked and our service was not very fast. We didn't get food until over an hour past when we walked in the door, and the food was lukewarm and not very satisfying. We also had an issue substituting a sushi roll for one of our dinners, which is baffling to me why they wouldn't just make a different roll or at least offer to make a non spicy roll of the same type.
The atmosphere might be fine in the dining room but where we were seated was next to the bar which had some kind of ringing or alarm going on throughout the night plus we were also next to the door, which was opening dozens of times with people coming in for takeout. It was a cold night so that was letting lots of cold air and making our lengthy stay even less comfortable.
Overall we were there for 2 hours and didn't even have hot food. They were clearly understaffed and seemed to prioritizing takeout customers over those seated in the restaurant. I am sure this was an outlier of an experience based on my family's recommendation but still was very disappointing to me and I don't feel comfortable recommending...
Read more2/12/21 - Stopped by for lunch, never been to Fulin's, since I was in the area. The menu was interesting - I don't remember seeing any Chinese lunch special not including soup and the prices were a bit higher than I'd expect. Ordered cashew chicken, spring roll, steamed rice, and egg drop (egg flower is what they call it) soup. The soup came first - first thing noticed was how sloppy the presentation was as the soup was literally running down the small cup onto the saucer. It was standard tasting - I would have liked to have some white pepper to add. The spring roll came out on a small platter with duck sauce and a pinhead drop of spicy mustard (at first I thought the mustard was a fingernail)...and surprisingly, the duck sauce was poured across the plate. I wondered if the entree would look like it was served by a nervous person. The cashew chicken came out - there was more brown sauce than I'd like to see, a scattering of vegetables and cup-mold of steamed rice. Every bite of the entree tasted like the other - no taste differentiation between chicken, vegetable, and cashew - never seen anything like it. The last observation was I did not see any native Chinese or Chinese-Americans working there which is, stereotypically, strange. I don't suppose I'll go back because there are much better Chinese restaurants...
Read moreThis place used to be good...we went there last night and ordered the egg drop soup. We get this dish all the time and we also order it at every restaurant that serves it. Last night the dish had black spots on the eggs. they were perfect circles. I have never had anything like that ever!!! It looked like mold and the soup itself was extremely thick. I told them about it and it was taken away and I was told they would make a fresh batch. at that time, some guy came over with a bowl and said it is not mold, it is part of the egg. I'm sorry but I have never seen black on any egg I have ever had. He then brought a supposed fresh bowl and showed that the egg had black on it. The end result was we never had our soup replaced which I would not have eaten it anyway...in fact, I was turned off from the whole meal and could barely eat anything. I wish i had a picture of the egg itself but I didnt take one. I am convinced they are putting leftovers in the fridge and reusing the soup as needed. This soup that was served had to be very old for it to look the way it did. Needless to say, we will NEVER be dining here again. This place has gone down hill in the 6 years we have been...
