We need to have a serious talk about food for a second. There's a lot of options in my area... Great food at Great establishments. But this is the king of the castle... The food I ate there was so good that it seemed like it had healing powers. A home-cooked feel that had Love and hard work put into it... The recipes probably take so much energy and time to make! This food makes you want to curl up and take a nap after you eat it... Sooo flavorful and hearty. Plus, the portion sizes are more than enough. Every time we eat there we have leftovers. Where to begin with explaining the different choices? I don't have to. You want to try everything at least once. For example, the peanut butter soup with rice ball is so wonderful! And you wouldn't even think to order it because of how it sounds but you would be so wrong. You should also try the sampler platter so you can get a bunch of different types of meats and side items. Easily a meal for or even three people. We sometimes get extra food to have it later. It's that good! I would carry on and on if I had the chance, but at this point you can see where I'm headed with this review. Go there, go there now and support this business because they deserve your patronage. The people who work there are so nice! Everything about this place should make other restaurants Jealous. Kudos to the people who own this business for such a delightful experience each time we...
Read moreWe were very excited to see Ghanaian foods in Knoxville and went to the restaurant w enthusiastic appetites. We ordered the beef ribs, lamb and peanut butter soup. The soup had decent flavor, but it was like eating salt out of a salt shaker! We added all their extremely hard and dry white rice in the soup but couldn’t eat it because it was still too salty. The lamb was a bone-in leg, looked big in size but not much meat, and it was so very tough hard to get the meat off the bone. The beef ribs were short ribs with good seasonings. But it was nothing but bone, hardly any red meat on gristle. Perhaps they might have cooked it for 10min or so bc the meat and gristle was completely intact on the bone, same size as the bones. Now anyone who knows how to cook beef short ribs knows that you slow cook it for hours where the gristle and meat just fall off the bones. Not the way this restaurant prepares. The best thing we ate was the jollof rice. I gave 1-star on service because the two women taking our orders and cooking were finger licking their hands eating while taking our orders and preparing...
Read moreThink twice about eating here - very inconsiderate. I have eaten here before & it was wonderful. Met the Owner/wife & she was lovely explaining the various dishes & offering samples to see what we liked. She was so kind & pulled together sampling of what we wanted to eat.
Came back today super excited for another good meal (quite the drive too) but 2 girls were minding the store (Owner's daughter). She was on her phone, didn't bother looking up, wouldn't answer any questions, wouldn't let me try something & flat out rude, acted like I was bothering her just being there! I was their only customer but still took 15 mins for rice & chicken (think 2nd girl was on her phone too). I ended up with chicken thigh not breast & barely any hot sauce (I asked for extra). There was only 1 bean in rice. Owners would do better to actually hire someone who wanted a job because these girls will run their biz into the ground.
I tipped out of compulsion but now wished I...
