to all posters: Thank you for your comments but felt they deserved a bit more info than you have at hand. The Properties committee at church found it necessary to manage the parking for a number of reasons ... first and foremost money. The membership would love to provide parking for free but, as a traditional downtown church, we simply do not have the money available for keeping up the lots, lighting and cleanup. We were able to work a deal with Republic Parking to keep our rates well under anywhere else it town ($5 vs. $7) and you will hopefully see some improvements in the surface of the lots as well as much needed lighting and landscaping.
All church attended functions will continue with free parking and we hope those of you who have parked with us in the past will consider a monthly parking pass to offset keeping you safe in our lots. I am certain that the congregation would love for you to drop by and worship, become a member or simply say hello and help us with spreading the good news.
Please know that the decision was made to do this after 5 or more years of having no budget to fix things, 7 sub committees and countless others who had hoped we could still provide what no entity in downtown Knoxville will provide ... free parking. Even though some of the comments below are hard to hear, thank you for caring enough about our continued and shared mission in life to make your...
Read moreEvery day I walk by this preschool going to class and there is always drugged out homeless people with bad attitudes sitting around the preschool, the church does nothing to protect teachers/kids from the influence of seeing homeless people peeing outside the playground area, don't take your kids here, updated 09/02/25- tried to speak to administrators that are legally required to be in staff during all working ours, for multiple weeks now there have been no administrators at the facility until after 9:30-10:00am which is illegal, and they seem to leave this pregnant woman by herself with a bunch of 3-4 year olds putting her at risk of losing her baby and also putting her out of the teacher:kids ratio, when I asked the teacher how she is handling her class by herself while pregnant one of the other teachers at the playground said the administrators keep taking her co-teacher and purposely leaving the pregnant teacher to fend for herself all day, finally talked to Beth the administrator who seems to not care about the safety and well-being of the children and is more than happy just collecting tuition fees, don't take your kids here, the teachers do what they can but this is not a safe place for kids, I hope the state comes in to rescue the abused teachers and save the kids from bad...
Read more30 years ago, my son attended kindergarten here. I would drop him off in the morning, then walk up to my graduate classes at UT. I have such fond memories of the kind, wise woman who ran the school. Wish I could remember her name as she was such a wonderful supportive, knowledgeable professional. My son's teacher was Lauryn, a young woman with a sound education and talent for early childhood and a dedicated teacher. She really knew her students and they loved her.
A special program the kindergarten had that year was paring the children with a senior citizen from the congregation who would spend time interacting with the kids. Kind of like "honorary grandparents."
A very special church that helped me out so much. Great memories for the year 1988 for these newcomers to Knoxville...
