Out of all the places so far that we have tried in Knoxville this will be one that we will not be returning to at any point in time. The overall theme of this location is "needs adult supervision". The two boys and the female working on 12/8 at 200pm were very unprofessional and rude. We felt unwelcome upon entering, waited 30 minutes for our food, and when I asked for a togo container the Male worker who was standing right in front of the togo containers askes another male employee that was on the other side of the restaurant to hand me one...as some sort of little game they were playing with each other. The two of them were also overheard laughing about another customers order that they got wrong, thinking it was funny to inconvenience the customer in having to come back for them to remake her sandwich. Our sandwiches were more veggie than meat and tasted okay...nothing worth the price one pays for them. If I were to give advice to someone walking in the store, it would be to go to Kroger by all the fixings that they want on their sandwich and pocket the money that they saved by not going to this sub shop. If I were the manager/owner I would terminate these two employees and find others that could at least provide decent customer service.

I would give them a five star rating however my order was not prepared as requested. The sandwiches are great and cooked fresh to order on a grill, which no other sub place does. Great staff. Interesting note, when I came back up to the counter I could smell the distinct odor of natural gas leaking from the kitchen and advise the staff, one of whom said that she smells it for two days. I advised them, as a volunteer fire fighter, they needed to call 911 right away, so the fire department could bring in a gas meter and check on this. Found out later that they had to call the manager first and get his “permission” before calling 911! How crazy is that policy!!?? 15 minutes later no fire department on scene, so I called 911 for them. Sure enough they had a gas leak and had to shut down the gas line until they get a plumber out there to fix it. This is why homes and shopping centers blow up when people ignore the danger signs that are supposed to prevent these catastrophic accidents.

The food quality is always very good here. The reason for the 3 stars is from the environment and the extremely high food prices. I've been here 4-5 times in the last 2 months and every time I am there the employees are either sitting in a booth or standing right outside the entrance chain smoking. The law is no smoking within 20ft of a public entrance. Now, the price issue. If you order a sub, medium fries, and a drink it will cost you over $17.00. That is a crazy price to pay just for a sub. They need to drop their prices and maybe they would get more business, as every time I went there I was the only customer during the entire 30 minutes.

I suggested this place for a work function after eating there once before a while back. The order was just food for 3 people which came to over $100. We requested the food to be delivered at 11:00am, but it showed right away that it would be delivered at noon instead. We decided that was fine and acceptable since most restaurants can't deliver that early. At 12:30 we noticed that the food had not even been picked up yet by the delivery driver. The status said our delivery person was on a bicycle, which would explain the delay, but was still unacceptable. At 12:40 I called and asked if our order was still waiting to be picked up. I was told it was still there. I told them we would be coming ourselves to pick it up since it was so late and we didn't want to wait for delivery on a bike. When our employeee arrived to pick up our order 5 minutes later she was told the delivery driver just arrived and left with the food. They didn't offer to remake, refund or anything. The delivery driver arrived after 1:00pm with cold sandwiches and stale French fries. I told her how very unhappy we were with the service. On top of that our order was not right. I will not be using this service for work functions...

for the past few months we went to penn station subs on n peters rd whenever we drove into knoxville, about every 4-6 weeks. at first, the food was delicious with generous portion sizes and perfect french fries. the staff was quick and efficient. and, the place was clean. we went again yesterday. none of those descriptors apply now. the place was absolutely filthy. so much so our shoes stuck to the entire floor and squished as we walked. the portion sizes are about half what they used to be. and, the french fries were hard as bricks. Plus, staff was unfriendly and incompetent. we asked 2 out of the 3 staff members for new fries. neither complied. finally, we got more, which were exactly like the first batch - only hot. it seems like they re-fry fries that sit in the basket next to the fryer. one of the snotty girls made a snide remark from across the kitchen and I responded by telling her whomever put the original fries in our basket knew they were inedible, but chose to serve them anyway. Needless-to-say, we will not go back. I'm sure this will happen with most other customers and penn station will go...
