Byblos Mediterranean Bakery and Pizza — Restaurant in La Cañada Flintridge

I have been coming here for years - one night we were shorted on our chicken plate which I found after bringing a take out order home and they were closed at that point. It was literally only a few bites of chicken. I was not sure if it was a mistake, since the other food was fine and portions are good here otherwise. I emailed them through their website and no response. I called them and no response. I ordered food from them again and brought up the previous experience, and they remembered my name, which underscores the fact that they got my email message and they promised to respond, but they never did. For this reason I can only give 2 stars since this was a major issue and they cant be troubled to even respond to me, after spending $70 plus for takeout dinner for 2 people. If they were short on chicken, they could have been more upfront with me and tried giving something else to make up for the shortage of chicken, which was barely a quarter of what we received in the past when ordering the chicken plate. I get it. It's COVID and everything is done differently these days. But nevertheless online orders should not be prioritized over in store customers. It doesn't make sense for me to stand in line and wait while the person taking our order is punching in to go orders from tablets. I understand the majority of orders come through them but also they're not 100% profitable. You don't want to lose the in-person because obviously they make you more profit. And then to wait 20 minutes for two flatbreads does not make sense either. Byblos is hands down the best Mediterranean restaurant my family has ever tried in LA. We were so worried for them when the fire happened but we were THRILLED to see that they have reopened, and they're seriously better than ever. I don't know if I've ever been to a restaurant, especially since the pandemic, that has such incredibly fresh food. The veggies and olives and pickles they give you with your meal are perfect, which says so much about their very high standards for quality. The pita is the best I've ever had.
