Constellation Coffee — Restaurant in La Cañada Flintridge

Excellent coffee for the Crescenta/Cañada area! There's like 30 Starbucks on Foothill and only 2 good coffee shops, you know, places with baristas who can actually work an actual espresso machine. Constellation has been making quality cappuccinos for their 2 years and I'm so thankful. I've only had a couple off drinks and they weren't bad, just not the quality of drink I'm used to. Nice smooth transition of microfoam, not scalding (did you know a cappuccino should be immediately drinkable?). No sized caps here!

Their specialty drinks are interesting and good and very different from each other- great for a small menu, and their teas cover a nice range also. They use mostly local coffee roasters and a local pastry company.

They get pretty busy in the morning and fill up with laptops but I can usually find a seat. The bathroom is nice and always clean. Parking lot can be tight but again, usually...

Coffee was decent. I bought a bag of the specialty beans they have in store (good quality, overpriced but I get it). My problem was that I asked the barista to grind the beans coarse for me, as I was going to make cold brew. The barista accidentally ground them super fine, which I didn’t notice until a few hours later after they’d closed for the day. This basically ruined the entire bag of coffee as I’d only planned on making cold brew with it. I went back the next morning to let them know about the issue, as it technically was their mistake. However I was told there was nothing they could do for me other than offer me a discount if I purchased another bag of beans. Needless to say I won’t be purchasing anything else from here again. Great little coffee shop with high quality coffee, good pastries, and super helpful staff. Definitely one of the better places to grab a coffee in the area.

Only negative (and why I can't give 5 stars) is they have the worst paper cups for hot beverages that I've ever seen. Almost every time I come here my coffee has started to leak before I get to my car. I try to remember to bring my own cup but every time I forget I end up frustrated with hot coffee on my hand and in my cupholder. Great coffee, cool vibe, terrible cups.

Edit: it's been a few weeks and I've returned multiple timea and have not had any more issues with the cups.for awhile they were using two cups which worked. Now they are back to a single cup but I haven't had any issues. Thanks...
