We've been going to A&W in La Crosse for over 10 years & enjoyed the food & service until recently, but our experience tonight was the LAST time we will ever go there. Started with extremely slow service, then UNDERCOOKED fried chicken tenders & french fries, & ended with RUDE service when my MIL (who was visiting from OOT & loved going there) asked for a discount on our bill. She only wanted a discount for the food that was UNDERCOOKED & we did NOT eat it. Young server & her rude comment was completely unnecessary, "I didn't cook your food!" Yes, we understand how a restaurant operates. There was another female staff member that discounted $5, my MIL asked for the entire price of meal to be discounted, so she rudely snatched the ticket & rudely said she would discount ALL of it & would be free. My wife, daughter and I went there today and sat 4 about 4 to 5 min before we even recieved an acknowledgement. Girl brings the menus to the table and then just leaves. Doesn't ask us what we want to drink. A couple comes into eat sit right behind us and gets their order taken right away. So we get up to leave and the server is standing up front joking around with the kitchen staff. Mind it we still dont have drinks nothing. Theres maybe 5 tables total. 4 dirty ones, who I'm sure was hers, because she goes up to take off the tip, but leaves her dirty tables. Rest assured I will never be visiting...
Read morei was intrigued by the reviews saying there was table service. my son and i stopped by last night. we seated ourselves and were promptly handed menus by our server. the service was quick and friendly enough. my burger and onion rings were delicious. a&w consistently has outstanding onion rings. my chocolate malt was ok--a little too thin for my presences. my son had cheese curds--fresh and hot and perfectly melty. he loved his frosted root beer. i loved the fact that our food came on china plates and my drink came in a plastic glass. this place felt more like a diner than a fast food joint. if we lived locally (we're from nashville), i would definitely be hitting this place...
