My husband and I went to Moxies for dinner and comedy for the first time with some friends on Friday November 10th. We started off with nachos and cheese curds for the table (along with a round of drinks of course). The nachos were fine, but nothing special. The cheese curds, on the other hand, were nothing short of perfection. The hand-dipped breading is nice and light and practically melts in your mouth. I would go to Moxies again solely for the cheese curds, but thankfully they weren't the end of the deliciousness. I ordered the battered fish special with baked potato and coleslaw. It has the same breading as the cheese curds which paired well with the haddock. The fish was perfectly cooked. Coleslaw had the perfect amount of mayo ratio. The only negative of my meal was the tartar sauce. It tasted very sour and off-putting. Another person in our party tasted it and said it tasted like it was made with miracle whip instead of mayo. Whatever the reason I wasn't able to use it and it's the only reason I am docking any stars. The comedy was just the thing I needed after a long and stressful work week. While I enjoyed the opening act far more than the main act, both guys brought the laughs. Our server Jess was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. She helped make the evening even more enjoyable. Overall I give our first experience at Moxies a 4 out of 5. If they change the tartar sauce to a better recipe it could be a perfect 5. We will...
Read moreWe came to lacrosse for the weekend, stayed at Americainn. We didn't want to drive to get food so we went down to eat at Moxies. We ordered 2 steak quesadillas and and an order of onion rings.
So our onion rings were so damn greasy that they looked wet! Disgusting. Both of our quesadilla's, well the top of mine had a small pool of grease and they were both sitting on a bed of actual grease mixed with arugula, we had to pick them up put a napkin down to absorb all the grease then layer each section between napkins. We told our waitress she said she would take the onion rings off the bill. Then the manager young kid came over and said he would only discount the onion rings that is how the food is supposed to be. He then said he consulted with the kitchen staff and they agreed that is how it's supposed to be. I then told him the waitress was taking my onion rings off the bill he went over to the register by our waitress and he kinda gave her a piece of his mind yelling at her for telling us she would have them taken off the bill. I told him my husband and I both have been in restaurant work for a long time between cooking managing and serving. I guarantee that food would never pass through a kitchen I worked in. Or was managing. Absolutely horrible. I do...
Read moreLoved the outdoors beach vibes, makes you feel like you’re somewhere else. However service, our waitress seemed angry the whole time, like she was annoyed. Our drinks didn’t taste right and we would sit there for a long time before she came by to refill etc. I ordered the inferno wings and she was confused so I had to point it out to her on the menu. The wings were big, juicy, but they were chewy, no crunch, and the sauce was not spicy at all. It tasted like regular franks hot sauce so I’m not sure if I even got the inferno.
I wouldn’t have given such a low score for this place until this happened. For background, I am the only minority out of the group. I had asked our waitress for a cup of ice water, she looked at me and told me to go to the Gatorade cooler and get it myself. My friends and I just looked at each other in awe like seriously, this is happening?! I responded with “ok”. The next time around when she came by, one of my friends asked for a cup of ice water and the waitress responded with “yes, I’ll get you some.” Again, the rest of us were in shock of what was going on.
You can interpret this however you want but mind you, all my friends apologized for the behavior of that...
