Rest assured, most of the food offered at Poke World—La Crosse is of great quality, so let's get the minor issues out of the way.
The store needs to be more staffed, and the place is super busy. Due to this, you get a mixed bag of cleanliness at the tables. The front of the house is doing their best to get the orders out. That said.
Ordering one, two, or three items is okay. However, service becomes super disjointed when you order a poke bowl, ramen, and a boatload of appetizers.
Given the place's popularity and its unique menu, it's no wonder it draws a crowd. While the service might be a bit disjointed and the cleanliness of the tables inconsistent, I assure you, it's worth the wait and the occasional hiccup.
If you're interested in creating your own ramen or poke bowl, head to the ramen statue and fill out the order sheet. While pre-configured items are available on the menu, if you prefer to customize your meal, locate the ramen statue and complete the necessary paperwork. Bring it to the cashier, and add in your drink and appetizers. Wait around 10 minutes, and they’ll call your number.
What did I order?
The poke bowl was also excellent. The protein serving size is a tad small for my liking. If you're in a time crunch and willing to wait in line, the poke bowl is made in front of you. It was the first thing I received. My protein was spicy tuna. It wasn’t spicy. However, there were notes and tones of heat. Nothing too serious. Maybe close enough to clear your nasal cavity.
The ramen broth was savory and incredible. Hot oil and soy sauce were available to add more flavor. However, the ramen broth was great. The noodles were solid. My ramen was delivered three minutes after my poke bowl.
Out of all the drinks available, do not get any of the fruit-inspired lemonades. I got a strawberry lemonade; it tasted great. The same goes for the ice teas and fruit teas. If you want a beverage, focus on slush, boba, yogurt, or milk specialty teas/drinks. The group I was with enjoyed the fruit tea slush.
I finally received the rest of my order about 7 to 10 minutes.
The pork steam gyoza was meh and underwhelming. The gyoza could have been fresher, dying in the back before being put out to serve. I'd give it another try the next time I dine in. If it tastes great, I'll update this review.
The fluffy pork steam bun is a hit! It's a great complement to the ramen and also great by itself. The bun looks billowy and light, but it is fluffy and dense when you eat it.
Wings are an option. They're not listed on the website menu, but they are listed at the restaurant. Out of all the hot items purchased, I ate these last. The wings were still warm on the inside and crispy on the outside—really great wings.
You will do a double-check of the price of the mochi donuts. They're worth the price of admission! They have an excellent light sugar taste. Not only that, but they're crisp on the first bite and chewy when you start chowing down.
The party I was with was pleased with Octopus balls. They shared that this was their second visit, and the octopus balls were as advertised: delicious.
To wrap it up, if you're willing to wait for good food, Poke World—La Crosse is worth it. I do have to mention that I wanted a clean sit-down experience, and it wasn't available.
When placing a substantial order, be prepared for your food to be served gradually. Poke Bowls are the first to arrive, followed by teas, ramen, and appetizers.
With its excellent and unique menu offerings, Poke World-La Crosse is a culinary adventure waiting to be explored. I highly recommend giving their food a try at least once. I, for one, will definitely be a repeat...
Read moreWonderful place to have in the mall and I am happy to say every time I come here I always get good customer service, and my food is always amazing☺️ they are always so accommodating and patient with their customers as well. To start, I love how for the poke bowls you get a good amount of options to be creative and build it the way you want it to. There is also a sauce that is gluten free for gluten allergy; the Yum Yum sauce! Having so many options is such a plus😊 The ramen options are great as well. You can get ramen flavors from high/medium level to low levels of spice. And/or you can customize and create your own ramen! I would like to also add that there’s soy sauce and chili oil on the tables too in case you wanted it. As for the sweets, the mochi donuts are a must! They have a nice thin crunchy layer on the outside and the inside is soft and chewy. You can get one or a group of them to go. As for the drinks, there’s so many to choose from and it’s nice that you are able to choose your toppings and sugar level! With all that said, thank you Poke World for the amazing food and service! I hope to continue to see this place grow and continue to get the recognition it...
Read moreOrdered a boba tea and upon receiving it tasted good. Before I even got out of the mall(I was out the door less than five minutes from getting the drink to leaving) it was empty. My large boba was filled with giant ice cubes. To see how much ice was in the cup I filled the cup with water after and poured it into a measuring cup. 6oz. I paid almost 7 bucks for 6oz of milk tea. A cup that claims it's 22oz to only have 6OZ in it!? Do better.
Atmosphere was nice for a food court spot.
Customer service was fine, it however was the comment i got from one of the workers that rubbed me wrong. First thing the lady says to me when I step up is my HOT PINK and light green mixed hair reminds her of the GRINCH. And look I know my hair is not normal colored but where the heck does hot pink and light green give you Grinch vibes? To top it off I wasn't given my receipt so I had no clue what number I was.
If you want to compliment someone, go for it! But maybe don't link it to something specific. You could have stopped at "I like your hair." That would have been great.
But I am mainly upset to have paid SO much for a 22oz cup to only get 6 freaking...
