Shimmy's — Restaurant in La Crosse

This has been our go to restaurant for YEARS and I mean YEARS and in the past gave 4 stars however, a one does not cover my disappointment. My first disappointment was from one, selecting a "special" after our go to entree, a hamburger steak, was not an option due to being out of hamburger. So the special was broasted chicken...the chicken breast was cold in the middle....so it was NOT freshly prepared...the other pieces where dry and over cooked....guess what classic reheated....the American fries were thick and under cooked...oh they were hot, but as a result of the hot oil they were smothered in. Even the salad bar was disappointing.....the shredded carrots had chunks of sliced carrots which were black. There was only one other table being served but you would not know it cuz the floors where there were empty tables, were dirty....and not just a couple of crumbs. Why are the floors not cleaned with a sweeper? Wait staff appeared disorganized and unprofessional. What happened to wait staff dressing in black? It will be a long while before returning.....and how is a restaurant out of...

We were looking for a good place to get fries after showing late for The Freithouse. We agreed that Shimmy’s Bar was a good option. We weren’t expecting a full meal because we are vegetarians and weren’t expecting anything outside of fries. All thanks to Ashley, she accommodated our special diet and for a better explanation , she celebrated it. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. I was astounded at how well the wraps were rolled. Around 10PM on a Friday evening and with a decent crowd forming- I am very impressed with this hospitality. Hands down this should be a menu item for Vegetarian and possibly Vegan options. Willis is an incredible bartender! Very personable dude and he truly went beyond to give us great service.

Drinks are fairly priced at ~$4/ beer but we were able to get dinner at 11:30p, which is fantastic in this town. The curds were good, the wings were great and the CBR wrap was way better than it had to be. The fries were so crispy and seasoned PERFECTLY.

Shimmys has a very large wraparound bar as well as dart boards, pool table, free shuffleboard, bowling machine, etc to keep your party entertained no matter what your vibe is.

Definitely would recommend this bar & grill at any...
