I was in La Habra working, and it was time for dinner. I was looking for a place to have dinner and I found a place I thought I wanted to eat. As I was parking and open the door, the smell of the fried chicken was all over the place, lol, change of plans. I went it, and I saw everyone that was coming to pick up a tray of fried chicken. It almost felt like Thanksgiving when everyone is picking up their orders, but it was just a regular day. Then I thought that they were running a special that day, but no. Everyone coming in had the best things to say about this place. I decided to order a two-piece chicken combo, and I couldn't believe the price. When I got my order, OMG, the chicken was juicy and crispy. The flavor was just like the delicious smell of the fried chicken. I almost ate the bones. I love it so much that I came back the next day and didn't care about the 2 hrs drive to come here. I wish everyone would give them a review and tell their story. Everyone walked out with a tray of fried chicken, and now I know why. You got it, tey it. Highly...
Read moreThe chicken here is THE BEST. Everyone within 10 miles of this chicken outlet knows this. When you order here, you get a lot of tasty chicken, plus potatoes or other sides, for not a lot of money. Because the chicken is so good, and such a good value, if you're craving fried chicken, order early. VERY EARLY. It has happened that the restaurant has gotten so many orders they've just stopped cooking for the evening. I don't know if it's because they've run out of chicken, or are just tired of all the cooking over a hot fryer, but if this happens to you, try and be patient. The owner/cook can get a little grumpy, but the chicken is worth it. Chicken Box is without equal anywhere in the area. It is a local icon, almost a landmark. Chicken Box's fried chicken, what they called "broasted' chicken, is better than the chicken from any chain I've ever been to. Parking is available, but the Chicken Box is a, well, a box, and a small box at that. It is not a big place. Dine in seating is LIMITED. Few dine in, most get the delicious...
Read moreI've lived in La Habra for 42 years up Cypress, one block away. This place has been there since I can remember, so they must cater to some sort of class of taste buds, but not mine. Totally bland food. Yes, bland chicken. Bland ribs. I just like the rich flavors and culture of Golden Star 6 lots away, Tommy's Chili Burgers with Chili Fries with extra onions on top which is just a minute or two down the street, Mexican food (so, so many of these great restaurants in La Habra), In-N-Out, taquerias, tortillaria, China Station, Blaze Pizza, and Moro's Cuban food, ALL IN LA HABRA. Chicken box throughout the decades with many tries is just bland food. If that's your thing because you don't want to try other culture's food or don't like spicy, robust, or gourmet food, then this bland food place is for you. I have an uncle that has to eat bland food due to health issues. This would be the...
