It took me a long time to finally write this review but when I think of this restaurant all I can do is think about what happened the last time I was there. I would give it a zero if I could. Not because of the food but because of the horrible staff working there. We will never go again. We were there on a very, very hot day. We were having lunch on a weekday. The restaurant wasn't busy. I man walked in and quietly walked over to the hostess who left him standing there to get the manager. The manager came out with her and took "care" of the customer while the "hostess" stood there with the ugliest look on her face. He had to show them his money before he could even order. Now you could clearly see that the man who walked in had fallen on hard times. But he didn't ask for anything! He came in to order a meal and paid the full price. They had no problem taking the man's money with sour/disgusted faces. Then told him he had to wait outside until his food was ready. There is a cantina to the right of the entry area that had no one in it. They could have easily told him he could sit in there or invited him, a paying customer, to sit in the restaurant. They gave him no water and no chip, he didn't ask for them, but they also didn't offer. They made him wait outside in the heat and would not let him back in. There was no compassion and no kindness yet they took his money and treated him like dirt. I don't ever see the need to treat anyone that way even if they ask for a handout. There is a way to treat people with dignity and tell them "no," but that wasn't the case. Yes, I should have said something; I feel bad I didn't. I will know better next time... Not ever again at Ricardo's...and hopefully there isn't a next time but I have learned something. Compassion, or lack there of, tells a lot about who...
Read moreMet some friends here for brunch on a Sunday morning. The place wasn't too crowded, so we were seated right away. I asked the hostess if they had the NFL games on and she said no, as I noticed one of the T.V.'s was off. No biggie, as she sat us in a large table to accommodate our party. Although the table was large, it kept leaning to one side. I tried placing a rolled up napkin under (to keep it from tipping), but we still had 3 near misses as it would tilt when you would put your elbows down. Not a good situation when you have kids, and two large micheladas (beer w/ tomato juice) sitting on the table.
For food I ordered the huevos rancheros. It was an over easy egg, on top of a tortilla, with some green sauce on top. The huevos rancheros weren't bad, and neither were the chilaquiles that my friend let me try. I think I would have preferred that instead. The beans were decent and my 3 year old loved the Spanish rice. What the kids didn't like was the kids French toast. They just picked at it.
The best part of my meal though was the micheladas and the tasty chips. The chips had a "Bañuelo" taste to them (w/o the sugar). The salsa was pretty good.
The service was decent, the food was decent, and the hostess was very nice. Just your typical...
Read moreI was dropping off dry cleaning and noticed the "Happy Hour" sign. What a hook. I was greeted by very personable Manager. I was ashamed to say, I had never visited this restaurant before. Easy access from beach Blvd. Handicapped parking friendly. Right across the street from McDonald/ Sam's Club. Friendly, warm, colorful interior in with live plants on trellis. Very cozy, and suspect romantic towards sunset / evening. Water, cocktails, juice. Many liquid beverage for all. Happy hour 3-5 PM. Delicious taps, salmon, fish tacos, salad with fresh dressing made in house. Execution was perfection. I could not finish all my food and the sweetest server placed my leftovers into containers to go. I was so full and content. Portions are very generous. I order cosido to bring home. I look forward to visiting again. Restrooms. Water on request with straws. Seating options for everyone. Olah! This food hit ball out...
