Hands down the best food truck we have ever been to! My husband, I, and 3 dogs are visiting from LA (I promise just visiting :). LA has a large food truck scene, and as I take my fur kids with me everywhere, I frequent food trucks weekly. When we arrived in Bend, we asked locals what the best restaurant was in the Bend/La Pine area. Several people told us that the best restaurant happens to be a food truck in La Pine named "the Chubby Duck." As our love for food trucks run deep, we gave it a shot. Well......it was so good we came back 2 days in a row! My hubs said it was the best gnocchi with meatballs that he had ever had in his life. I got pasta with fresh garlic, tomatoes, asparagus in a pesto cream sauce. It was divine. The truck is located behind the Badlands Distillery, which offers incredible cocktails as well. My family and I are sad to leave the Bend area tomorrow and I wish this food truck was heading to our area, but we can't wait to come back to visit this beautiful area again and our first post hike feast will be at the Chubby Duck. Thank you for the wonderful food and kind...
Read moreStopped by the Chubby Duck yesterday for dinner for the family. The lady at the counter was very courteous, polite, and had excellent customer service. Guessing she was the owner as she was the only one present in the Chubby Duck. One person to handle order from start to finish. We ordered 2 pasta bowls with some focaccia bread as well as a couple daily special desserts. Everything looked amazing upon inspection when I got it home. Both pasta bowls and the focaccia bread were quiet salty though. Not sure if some mistake happened for the day or if salt is normally used in such high amounts but it made everything we had except the desserts almost inedible. My wife's gave her an upset stomach that lasted the night. Everything else though was exquisite. We may try again at some point and see if this instance was a one off but was disappointed in this visit solely due to the...
Read moreFood was fantastic, very friendly service. Took a little bit to get the food (20 mins or so) but that means it’s fresh! And it tasted fantastic. I’d read reviews on their spinach artichoke appetizer and I think that was the best thing we ate. Do not pass that up (although the focaccia bread was served cold, we got home and toasted the bread and that was better) but that dip is excellent. We also ordered gnocchi and regular pasta Alfredo. Very very good. You get three free veggies with the build your own and choice of meat. Only downside is there isn’t much for outdoor seating (we had our dogs) but that’s not the food trucks fault by any means, just be prepared to not have outdoor options if you bring your pups. Would eat here...
