I was in town for the weekend and wanted to get some some food to go, and I looked up their menu online. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable, so I placed an order and went to pick it up. The price online said $10.95 when I got to the restaurant they told me it was $16.95. The woman tried to justify it by picking up their paper menu and showing it to me with their updated prices. I explained to her that it’s against the law to advertise one price and then charge a different price upon accepting payment. She told me those prices were three years old. The food was a revelation. Never had this dish, encourage folks to try it wherever. It's uncommon, but a mindblowing set of flavors.
I can imagine it's done better elsewhere, but the quality of what I had is orders of magnitude above what I expected from a hole-in-the-wall in La Pine.
My urgent request is that you steer clear of conventional orders here -- sweet and sour, General Tso's, etc. -- and ask about recommended orders which showcase what they know how to do for themselves.
I asked for extra Szechuan pepper and pickled vegetables.
I was not disappointed. And none of that is on the menu.
In fact, I was delighted beyond expectations.

My only concern is that I ordered the chefs special family dinner, which states on the menu that the chef will choose what to include. This sounded perfect since I was ordering ahead and didn't have a menu in front of me. But when I called, the man on the phone kept asking me specifically what I wanted included with the meal, without providing guidelines about how many entrees or appetizers. I ended up getting 4 entrees, with no appetizers. The food we got was good, but I think it would have been cheaper to order the entrees separately instead of as the...
