I used to enjoy coming here, as the staff are friendly and the goods are undeniably catered to my tastes. That being said, there have been times where I felt unwelcome as a customer. I paid the owner in advance to hold a card for me, then found out that he got one and sold it within half an hour despite me giving him a down payment

Later on I traded in a card for store credit, and the employees told me it was a really valuable card and gave me a good amount of store credit for the card. Well the next day I went in and the owner pulls me aside to chew me out, as though I was an employee or something. He then tells me the card wasn’t actually that valuable and whatever trade credit I had was null and void.

It’s rare to find a retro game store, it’s amazing that we now have one in southern Maryland. I’m an avid fan of retro gaming, and with that experience can say that the collection and overall curation of this store is spectacular. I met the owner who was kind, engaging, and obviously extremely knowledgeable. That knowledge and passion translates directly into the collection showcased in store as there are many rare items, games, and consoles lining the shelves. Kanto Games is hands-down one of the best Pokémon stores around! The staff are incredibly kind, helpful, and always willing to chat or answer questions. They really make you feel at home whether you’re a casual collector or a serious TCG player.
