Chon Tong (Thai Cafe) Tennessee — Restaurant in La Vergne

Me and my work buddies have eaten here every Tuesday for a while now and I finally decided to proclaim my love for Chon Tong on the hilltops of google reviews.

Seriously though, this is the only Thai place I want to eat at. Ever since my first trip to Chon Tong, all other similar restaurants in Nashville can’t live up to the fine cooking and pleasant atmosphere of this tiny hole in the wall.

The chicken wings are probably the best wings available for public consumption in the state of Tennessee (I can’t speak for the other 49). Crispy and fall-apart, they take 20 minutes to cook and are garnished with flash-fried jalapeños and onions and served with two sweet dipping sauces.

The crispy duck is tender and the skin perfectly rendered every time. I wake up in a cold sweat as my body craves the thai hot sesame chicken with jasmine rice. The crab rangoons aren’t just wontons with cream cheese- there’s a depth of flavor and texture unrivaled in this holler!

The only time I’ve ever been disappointed was yesterday when they were closed. But then we went today and found out they closed for the Chef’s birthday cause my man wanted a day off. Brother you take any time off you want, and when you come back you bet I’ll be there waiting for you! Cause this spot is on point 10/10 every time I eat there.

Shout out to Natsumi (no idea how to spell her name) but she’s the waitress there- the only one! And she slays every single time too!

Wow. I’m very impressed with this place. I had just decided I’m done with Thai restaurants in La Vergne, then I find this treasure.

The atmosphere is very cozy and intimate. They had nice music going as well. The nice young woman at the counter has a very pleasant demeanor. And not that fake and performative type of attitude, you could tell she is a genuinely sweet person.

I came in on a Friday night and placed a to-go order. The wait was very reasonable for fresh food.

Now- the food. The chicken wings- I am a bit of a chicken snob and there were some of the best wings I’ve had at a restaurant. The texture was A1. I ate it both with and without sauce and it was great. They gave two sauces, one seemed like a sweet chili sauce and I have no idea what the other was, and admittedly I ignored it at first . I don’t even know how I manage to have left overs but the next day I put that sauce on the chicken and it took it to another level. The chicken was also a respectable portion. Guaranteed staple for every future order.

I ordered the sesame chicken. It was pretty good. It tasted like what you’d find at about any Asian restaurant. But I added that other unidentified sauce to it the next day and it got even better. My only critique is more veggies in it would be nice.

I also ordered the red curry w/ chicken. It was very good and perfectly seasoned.

I’m very happy to have found this place and look forward to giving them...

Let me tell you the first bite of the TOM YUM soup, and the KANA MOO KROB pork belly is absolutely flavorful and does a New Year’s dance in my mouth. The chef is five star quality I’ve been to several high and Thai food restaurants and this place is amazing I’m a tractor-trailer driver. I’ve been to all the United States and this restaurant is by far the best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to please try those two and everything on the menu. I’m sure it’s the best, but the flavor is just to die for, I literally will visit here every time I come to Tennessee I will make it my business to stop here not to mention Customer Service is amazing. Everything’s clean the food is just I can’t emphasize any better than what I’m trying to tell you, please it’s the best ever!!!!!!
