Santa Ana Fresh Mexican Food — Restaurant in La Verne

Last thing I want to do with my time. I just left Mi Cocina because since I was a solo customer they didn't come over to my table for 20 minutes. When I told kid he argued about how long I was there so I left. I had ordered for pick up a chorizo burrito previously cause my favorite place Taqueria El Sol in Pomona is closed on Sunday. When I picked it up they gave me a combination plate. That was fine cause it came with tortillas. It was decent the only thing was they were kinda lazy about scrambling the the chorizo into the egg. It was like they just served a flat scrambled egg no Fluff. So I went back today. No one was there except the cook. I asked if they had taquitos. he said yes. I paid then I realized I didn't ask if they were chicken taquitos. So I asked in an affirmative way, "these are chicken taquitos right ? "He said no beef but it will be a few more minutes for the chicken. So when it was ready I was called to pick up order and I had a tiny little cheap fork for a utensil. My first bite into it I wasn't impressed.I figured it was dark meat. As I took another bite it dawned on me that maybe it was beef. It wasn't shredded. I asked is this chicken he said yeah. I took one more bite and it was so bad that I opened it up. I don't know what it was but it didn't resemble chicken . It was like compressed diced pieces of meat. He did say he had to make the chicken . I didn't know if that meant to shred it or thaw it . I've had chicken taquitos at every Mexican restaurant. El Torito, el presidents even MiCocinas. I'm easy. All they have to have is shredded chicken as serve with guacamole. I prefer white meat. This was horrible and they didn't even know how to make rice and beans. I asked for a refill on my drink and left . $15.00 down the drain but at least I didn't have to...

To our surprise this place was opened, we didn't expect it to be. But they actually open everyday at 8am. The place was very very clean and the lady behind the counter, possibly the owner was very friendly and patient as we tried to decide what to order. They have a very big menu of items to choose from. We decided on the 5 rolled shredded beef taquitos and 5 shredded chicken mini tacos and 2 large diet cokes. She brought your soda and chips and salsa and to our delight, the chips were freshly made. Light and crispy and delicious. As we finished them up and we did eat all of them as they were some of the best I've had, the food arrived. When i days mini tacos let me say they are not mini in the amount of food you get. They were heaping full of fresh ingredients. Lettuce, onions, cheese, the shredded chicken of course each on 2 mini tortillas. That itself would have been plenty of food for the 2 of us but we also had the taquitos which were very fresh and delicious. They were piled high with guacamole and cheese. They were delicious. Bad customer service. The food was ok. The cashier had an attitude when I tried to ask about a missing item / charges on my order. She wouldn’t even let me get in a word in to ask about the charges. I was willing to place another order for the items she missed the first time. The restaurant charges a transaction fee for using a debit card. :( I asked them to waive the debit card transaction fee for the second order. The cashier was going to waive it but a cook in the kitchen said no we can’t. We were still missing some tacos from our original order so we decided to go to Del Taco across the street.
