Summer Kitchen Cafe — Restaurant in La Vista

We hit this place almost every week as the food is always stellar and the price is right. This week we picked up our usual to go meal for the night, and when we got to the kitchen to heat it up, we were appalled. My omelet looked great as usual, but my fiance's pot roast (which she orders literally every week) was the most poor excuse for a "dinner" I have ever seen. I genuinely cannot believe that this made it out the door. It doesn't look like the cook didn't care, but as if they genuinely tried to make the most sorry excuse for a "meal" possible. They even forgot the steamed vegetables that come with the meal. One of the most disappointing meals we have ever had. I'll let you decide by the picture, is this something that is acceptable to give to a customer for over 10 dollars? I'll be bringing this picture with me tomorrow to show management what happened. We'll see how they try to make it right. I really want to recommend this place because the food is always great and we have a great experience, but dear god this makes me scared to give them my business in the future.

UPDATE: I changed the stars as I called management and they immediately made it right with me. I will leave the original text for the review as that is what happened, but management was polite, concerned, and took care of me with no questions asked after explaining the situation. We will continue to business with them as the food is normally great and the management really impressed me with how they handled it! Consider them redeemed...

My husband and I went here this morning for a Saturday breakfast. We knew it would be busy but we were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away at a clean table. We ordered some lattes - mediocre coffee - and then some food. My husband got the southwest burrito and I got the country skillet.

The food came so quickly and there were big portions which was nice but unfortunately it was not good. It wasn’t salted, which isn’t completely bad as it’s easier to add salt than take away. But it also didn’t have any flavor at all. My dish was partly cold so I’m assuming it was reheated (which makes sense why it came so fast). The gravy was terrible, the country fried steak was chewy and the eggs were cold. My husband said his burrito was lacking flavor and tried adding salt and hot sauce but it didn’t help much. We both walking away not eating even half of our food.

The only thing that tasted good was the pancakes. If I had only eaten those I would have enjoyed the experience.

The waiter was nice but the service wasn’t exceptional. Being busy I’m sure he had lots of tables to wait on. Yet it seemed clear we didn’t like our food and yet he didn’t say anything. The cafe is clean and nice and has a good atmosphere. However, I don’t think we’ll be returning, especially after paying $50...

I heard very good things about this place while working nearby so I decided to check it out by taking some baked goods home for Christmas. I ordered a dozen cinnamon rolls and a cherry pie. The cinnamon rolls were fresh and hot out of the oven and the cherry pie was still warm from baking it earlier in the morning. The staff were very helpful and attentive to what I was trying to do by packing icing in to go tubs, and plenty for the cinnamon rolls, because I was serving them the next morning and the pie was to be served the next afternoon. They also informed me let the cinnamon rolls cool before placing a provided large plastic bag over the box half way home so they would cool without getting mushy and not be dried out the next morning. Excellent service from all three staff involved in my transaction, very good high quality products that everyone in my family enjoyed, very reasonable for the product provided and the quality of products provided.
