Walking into smash park, I was quite impressed. The atmosphere and vibe of the whole place is quite cool. There are a lot of things to do and multiple different bars to go to. My friends and I were there for a trivia night so it was super busy. We ended up ordering drinks at the bar because we weren’t sure if we had to order everything at the bar or if we had a server because we had never been here and waited over 15 minutes. The waitress eventually came after we had all finished our drinks. She seemed upset that we ordered at the bar and had a poor attitude towards us all the rest of our time there.

While she was taking our food order she seemed to be in a rush and kept trying to leave before we were done ordering our food. We kept asking her to hold on because she was trying to walk away from us while we were ordering. After that she came back to our table a few minutes later and was trying to get us to pay for our food before the food was even on the table. She was insistent that we pay then, but we told her that we wanted to wait just in case we want to order more drinks. She seemed like she was rushing us out and was just being very rude. When the food did finally come, it was lukewarm and definitely seemed like it was sitting out for awhile before it got to us.

At one point she came to our table and asked us if we needed anything, we asked her a question about the trivia and she blatantly ignored us and walked away. The last time she came back she asked if we needed anything and then she tried to walk away again before we could even talk to her. We told her we wanted more drinks and my friend asked her why she keeps walking away from us while we’re trying to talk to her. The waitress rolled her eyes and replied in a sarcastic tone “I guess I should’ve handled that better”. After that we just went to the bar to order anything else, because the waitress never came back to check on us again. At one point she saw my friend standing at the bar and said something snarky to her about ordering at the bar. The server didn’t even bring us our checks. We had to go to the bar to pay our bill and when we did the bar tender had some snarky stuff to say to us as well. She was pretty much telling us we didn’t communicate things with our server. Which is somewhat true, but it’s because our server wouldn’t come check on us and was standing around talking to coworkers.

Overall I thought the place itself was pretty cool. Our server just ruined our whole experience. The night was supposed to be a fun night of trivia and instead we felt really uncomfortable and awkward. We ended up leaving the trivia night early because we felt unwelcome after our interactions with the server and the bartender. The concept of the place is pretty cool, but I don’t think I’ll be back after the way my friends and I...

Tonight my bestie and I attended the Soft Opening being held at Smash Park. It was an absolutely amazing experience and we can’t wait to come back again to enjoy some more of the amazing food and the overall experience again.

The food we experienced tonight were the absolutely amazing Bao Birds and Frito Pie. I highly recommend them both.

The Bao Birds had a crunch that I haven’t found in Fried Chicken in many places, if at all. it was super crunchy and juicy but not at all greasy in anyway. The Korean BBQ sauce was not to strong but a well rounded sauce when combined with the sesame ginger aioli. The fresh cabbage, green onions and cilantro played an integral part in being a refreshing crunch to play with with Chicken and sauces. The one thing I was most impressed by aside from the Chicken were the Bao Buns themselves. They were soft pillows of heaven, able to stand on their own and with the chicken, sauces and toppings. They don’t fall over at all or become soggy at all with everything on top of them. Definitely going to get these the next time I come back. They come 3 to an order.

The Frito Pie is a definitely a delicious shareable appetiser. It was enough to feed the two of us with Bao Birds and be full. The Frito Pie was covered in a very simple Cheddar Cheese sauce that rounded out the Smokiness from the pulled pork perfectly. The one thing I really liked about their pork was the portion, and the ratio of pork to all of the crunchy Fritos, that stayed crunchy throughout our enjoyment of this appetiser and the fresh Pico De Gallo and Guacamole that were a delightful freshness to this delicious dish.

We got to play some of their games since they were so busy tonight, we really enjoyed the bigger version of Jenga, and the Axe throwing. Even though the Axe throwing was busy, games went by fairly quickly and they were able to get a lot of people rotated in and out quickly.

The staff was absolutely on point with keeping up with everyone. Our server Sam was absolute delight and able to provide fantastic service, recommendations for food. She was also very friendly as well. Everyone we interacted with seemed very happy to be working there or happy to answer questions we had about anything.

Overall we can’t wait to come back and hope that as time goes on they will maybe offer more seasonal offerings on their menu and keep up their great service! Thank you for a...

We finally took some time today to try the new Smash Park. Being from Des Moines where the original location is, I had high hopes that it would be just as fun, if not better. I was pleased to see that there are servers so we could sit down and eat, rather than having to order food at a window, then sit down, like we do in Des Moines. However, this location has fallen far short of how wonderful the Des Moines location is. Our server did not bring half of the stuff we requested (i.e. he didn’t bring extra sauce for my sandwich, my MIL waited 10 minutes for a Diet Pepsi refill…. AND my fiancée never got his food.) We were so annoyed that by the time we all finished eating, we mentioned to the server again that he still had not received his food and THEN the server went back to the kitchen and brought out a meal entirely different than what he even ordered. At that point we were over it and ready to leave. Expectations also fell short as I overheard bus boys talking about other tables business/drama. After we ate, we tried to get a bowling lane because we didn’t see anyone on the lanes. The girls at the front desk told us that the lanes were reserved until 3:15 pm even though no one was on them. They told us we couldn’t even take the lanes for a half hour before the next reservation was supposed to arrive. So those lanes sat open for an hour without anyone being able to use them. As we went to walk away from the host stand, I quickly turned around to see the girls laughing and side-eyeing us. Although the food that we were able to taste was pretty good, we were all livid by the time we left that we have no plans of returning anytime soon. I’m not sure if the issues stem from being short staffed, lack of work ethic/drive, or what not, but Dave and Busters and Amazing Pizza Machine will have my business...
