We learned from a coworker around the second week of May 2017 that a new Italian Restaurant had opened in town. They had not been there yet. My brother(and roommate) stopped in to get a menu. After looking it over, we decided to give Mimmo's a try. We would come to regret that decision.
We called on Wednesday the 17th around 5pm. The phone rang for two minutes without anyone picking up. We spent about 10 minutes debating if we should call again. During that time no one from Mimmo's called us back. Chinese Gourmet, Schiano's, Papouli's and Joey Tomato's pick up the phone when I call. And on the odd time they haven't they've called me back within 5 minutes. How a pizzeria could fail to return missed calls is beyond me.
But they're new. When you're new sometimes your phones don't work right(or you don't know how to use the well). And many of the items on the menu had very appealing descriptions. So we decided to give them another shot.
On Friday the 19th my brother was home alone and decided to try Mimmo's again. He ordered the Panoramica, a sausage and vegetable sandwich labelled a "pizza bread" that comes with fries. Now, I'm not sure what makes this a "pizza bread" because it's a half sub. Now, that's not a complaint, just an observation. We were unsure what exactly a pizza bread would be and were open to whatever may come.
What came was a disappointing half sub. The Panoramica has a single sausage sliced down the middle (though it might have been two short sausages each sliced in half). There is a variety of other vegetables and cheese on the sandwich but the overall quantity of ingredients still yielded a thin sandwich. It was also a little bland. To top it off, the fries were cold.
Today, on Saturday 5/20, I wanted to get sandwiches for lunch. while going through our menus the specials insert fell out of the Mimmo's menu. They have a 3 sandwiches and a 2 liter deal for a reasonable price. We figured if we ordered and split 3 different sandwiches we'd have a good survey of what they do. We ordered a sub, a pizza bread and a paninni.
The pizza bread was a Giulia, a broccoli rabe and sausage sandwich. once again we received a very thin sandwich with a single sausage on it. the broccoli rabe was under-cooked. While my first complaint about this sandwich was that it was laughably thin, my second and more forceful complaint is that it was bland, just bland. The fries however were hot and cooked perfectly.
We also ordered a Dora panninni. I too was bland and thin. It was also supposed to come with chips, which did not arrive.
Finally we ordered a Napoli hot sub. The Napoli was also somewhat thin and bland, but passable. However, 2/3 of the chicken and peppers in this roasted chicken sub was on 1 half. My brother had a far less sufficient experience than I did. You should be able to make a sandwich were the two halfs have the same amount of food.
Had we not ordered the 3 sandwich special, our meal would have been substantially more money. As it was, we still felt ripped off.
I understand the attempt to make fresh, upscale Italian available for home delivery in the area. I welcome that attempt and am more than willing to pay for fresh quality ingredients made well. Mimmo's promises that clearly from their menu and promotional materials.
We didn't get that. We got bland, over priced and light food in a clear attempt to sell us an imagine and not quality Italian food. Poor service to boot. There are a dozen Italian restaurants in this town. give one of them your money.
TL;DR: Bland food, small portions, higher than local average prices. ...
Read moreThe food would have probably been okay, BUT we were told it would be delivered in 45-50 minutes and it ended up taking about an hour and a half. Food came cold (cold enough for 1 year olds baby to eat right from the box). Cheese wasn’t even “melted” anymore like it should be, it was stiff by the time it came. And I understand being lost, BUT when ordering, we said “take this road to this side street, you’ll find our block down that street”. We did give directions because we know it can be a bit difficult to find our house in this neighborhood. We could have appreciated a call to ask for directions (because we left our phone number with them) or to explain it’s taking longer and why.
Now, the food. We ordered a meatball sub and got a chicken parm... at this point we wanted to just eat so we said screw it. No cheese on it... odd.
I never ordered from here until today, and I won’t again. When we called to ask about our order after about an hour and ten minutes, we were told she left the building 5 minutes ago and was on a certain street..... but it still took her a ridiculous amount of time to get to us. Had she really been where they claimed, it would have taken 5 minutes or so to get to us. So I feel like they lied to us to shut us up.
If you want hot food in a timely fashion,...
Read moreAbsolutely disgusted. Loyal customer loved there food. Went to go pick up my food and went inside was told there were just finishing one thing up and that they would bring it to my car. Food comes out what looks to be ours and gets put in another car. So okay maybe it’s not our food. 30 minutes goes by and still no food. The same car that the food we thought was ours pulled back in. Meanwhile my brother in law told the workers inside what kind of vehcile, the color, and the location. An owner or a manager came out took the food out of the back of that car went inside and did a quick switch which me and my brother in law saw right through the window and someone else took our boxes and put them in the back of my vehicle. I specifically asked if that box was just taken out of someone else car, the man lied to my face and said it wasn’t when multiple people clearly saw that it was. Especially with covid you would think they would be honest and remake it. Nope. Called to talk to a manager was told they were busy, told the person who answered the phone and all they said was okay. Lost a loyal customer tonight, along with all family that orders as well. Very unsanitary to be doing during a pandemic. Pretty sure that’s against...
