Always on the hunt for a good morning meal on the weekends, my husband and I called to see if Pat's was really open. If you've driven past this little house, you know it looks closed most of the time. The lady that answered was sweet and asked if we wanted reservations, to which we said yes. We went arrived 30 minutes later. We were a little confused because there was only one other patron. It is a small space, so maybe they were just being cautious. Boasting older decor it was very clean. A little girl played about signaling a family operation, which I find great. It's a reminder the American Dream is still alive a well for some. The menu was pretty basic, and I noted the items were priced pretty high. I ordered chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs with cheddar, and a biscuit to dip in the sausage gravy. I always order a single pancake at a new place, so I know when a craving hits where to go. My husband ordered corned beef hash, eggs over medium, and even though the corned beef topped country potatoes with peppers and onions, it came with hashbrowns. Hubby appreciated the chunks of corned beef and the potatoes and peppers. Hashbrowns were a potato overkill for him. The eggs for both of us were cooked perfectly, and the biscuits were soft and yummy. The chicken fried steak was very typical of what you'd find anywhere. They accommodated all my substitutions without quarrel and even produced bottled water. Yes, I'm the picky lady about water. I mean, ever since Flint... This place has new owners apparently, and they intend to introduce a Thai menu which they offered the option of. They said they plan to open for dinner serving Thai dishes. This brings me to the pancake. It was fluffy and had crispy edges, so I was excited to dig in. It was served with a to go style syrup cup. I poured a little on and took a bite. It had a funny flavor I thought could be coming from the syrup. Took the pancake home and put my pure maple syrup on it. It tasted off again. I realized it had a hint of Asian style noodle flavor. They must have used the same pan, skillet, or whatever, and the flavor transferred. Aside from that, we had a good breakfast that cost $47 bucks. Like I said, spendy for breakfast. I can't say I'll CRAVE Pat's in general, but I will be happy to support this little place when seeking basic breakfast items, provided it remains a...
Read moreWaited for over 40 minutes then owner/waitress serves overcooked eggs and get mad because I sent them back! Place was busy when my daighter and i got there so we were ok with coffee and chatting away. Didn't notice place had emptied out and we still didn't have our meals. We did notice when a new couple that had come in had got there food before us. We were ready to leave then but owner came over and claimed to be very sorry, claimed our ticket "got dropped", it would only be 7 minutes. Not. My daughter scramble came out, but not my french toast and eggs. Seems everyone in restaurant got refils on coffee before i got my eggs, and they didn't even give us coffee refill until we asked. Finally eggs come out. Owner so very happy, says she gave us extra eggs (2) to make up for delay. I had asked for very very very runny yolks. Poach them, in and out i had said when I ordered. The things in front of me were practically "hard boiled". I didn't want these. She scowls at me like I just tore up her painting masterpiece. So i have to wait for eggs again. French toast is cold now. This time only 3 eggs come out. What happened to the other extra egg for the time delay? How about an extra hot french toast for the ones that got cold this last time around? No verbal appologies, no adjustments on the check nothing but the angry scowl from her. So you know no tip frim me! What does she expect for such awful service? I suppose it's my fault; I should have left when i first notice the breakdown in service. This is what i get for trying to be nice, and giving another person a break. If i could give negative stars i would, service horrible, and food was not worth...
Read moreNow: they must have read my review 2 years ago because the new owners shaped up! Better portions, no oil issue with food. Better top ups with drinks and very kind service! Got the chicken fried steak and the ham and cheese omlet with biscuits. The buiscuts are homemade and were only slightly flat but other then that I would return for the breakfast. They are however also a Thai place now for luvh and dinner and I can't speak to that style food but the homestyle food for breakfast was good. 3 years ago 2022: A hidden jem. I dare you to try this place, you will be hooked. Food is wholesome and delicious the gravy is thick with flavor.
2 years ago 2023: Oh boy! Where do I start? The place has been newly taken back over by the initial owners from 30 years ago. The food and the service was absolutely horrible. The young waiter was very very green to serving obviously because he did not fill my water back up the entire meal and never asked if we were happy with the food or needed anything. The food was very oily and the hash browns were way over cooked, they could have been chips. For the price we were very very disappointed with the portions and the farmer’s skillet was 2 eggs worth of eggs when it was 16 dollars. Just outrageously expensive for shitty oily small portions and terrible service to boot. Just...
