Giving atleast a star for some sort of effort and halfway decent drinks... but our experience here was terrible. We showed up and were told to sit anywhere.. Tables were being moved outside as if to encourage us to sit on the patio... Found a free spot but then a fan was turned on that was blowing so powerfully close to us that our menus wanted to fly off the table. My hair was going everywhere and definitely blew towards other patrons as well. Our waitress got our drinks then proceeded to help two other tables MULTIPLE times before finally coming back to ask for our order. Didn't help that we were literally in her path every time she went in and out to help them. We ended up getting it to go... Not to mention last night was some sort of an "accordian night" which was a very niche vibe I was not really looking for or expecting as a newcomer.

Hideaway seemed to not really know what it's theme was. The menu comes off very gastropub style but decor and atmosphere were all over the place. I thought to my self that "food must be amazing" because the reviews are so high. Nope, we got the Salmon toast and Poutine but both were bland... Curds on the Poutine were super cold in the middle and the salmon had practically no flavor HOWEVER it was a healthy portion for $8 bucks.

Walking out, two employees were smoking cigarettes in front of the main entrance... Definitely not the kind of service that's on par with the menu and...

FINALLY! A late night grub spot in Lafayette!!! I've only been waiting 17 years for this!!! I grew up in NOLA and came to Lafayette for college and couldn't leave. I love this place! But there has been NO late night food (past 2am) except Mel's and Taco Bell since I moved here. This place is legit! Prices are good, food is good, open til 3am (yes, 1 hour makes a huge difference). Great for a working musician like myself who has no energy to go home and cook after a 3 hour set on a Saturday night. Located in heart of downtown, so all you Jeff St drinkers can walk there(don't drink and drive!) Cati-corner to Don's on Lee St. No inside seating, just a walk up window and a bench or 2. I just take mine home and flip on a movie and veg out with a massive burger with sides. They also have hot dogs, Cuban sandwich, Philly Cheese steak, fries tots, sweet potato fries and onion rings. And sides are cheaper with an entree order(Yes, incredibly some places still don't understand that sides should be cheaper if you order an entree). This place has been a long time coming for Lafayette, I'm just glad that when it got here it wasn't just fried trash. Tasty late night eats!!! Check it out! My favorite is the Dbl Stan, dressed, add slaw and jalapenos with a side of onion rings....

Cute place, good music and decent food. Terrible waitstaff. Female server would walk past multiple times without making eye contact. 15 minutes after getting drinks, we finally waived her down to order food. My friend asked for grilled onions instead of fried on her burger, and server said that was totally doable. Food came out and my friend did not see any onions on her food, so she asked for a side of grilled onions. By the time everyone at the table finished their food, she still had not gotten her onions. We stopped the server again and asked. Server took the plate back to the kitchen and came back with the chef. The chef gave back the plate, got eye level with my friend and said “This is what onions look like. There are onions on your burger,” and walked out. We were shocked by how uncalled for and rude this comment was. Very hard to see translucent, tiny onions mixed in BBQ on a burger. Worst service I have ever...

The hostess, Katherine, was the most rude and verbally aggressive and accosting restaurant employee I have ever met. When I called to complain, the management was more worried about defending her saying she finds it hard to believe she behaved that way. As someone who worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade during high school and college and even majored in hospitality for 2 years before changing my major, I have a lot of patience. She should not be working with the public. There is a lot more to say but Google only allows me to say so much. Bottom line, this seems like a cool place but I doubt if I ever go back because of this rotten 1st impression.

Had the steak frites, and smokestack lightnin steak frites price was very pricey (18)for what was giving. 4 bites small nuggets with a ton of fries. Fries had no seasoning salt , sugar nothing. Also had the smokestack the onion rings wasn't crispy. The hamburger was pretty good the cheese had melted in a way as if it was cooked a day before and heated but the bun was good overall not sure what everyone is seeing maybe it's one of those places you need to eat in. But to pick up isn't worth it at all for what was paid. Very disappointed in the steak frites a waste of money for sure.

Liked the atmosphere and the food. The service is confusing and could use some work. When you arrive, if you're ordering food only, place your order outside at the white shack. If you're drinking and eating, save time and order inside. They have convenient QR codes on the tables for their e-menu. The food is good! The burgers were juicy and had a great flavor. They don't have an extensive wine or beer selection but you'll find something good.
